A couple of months ago, the path to this finish line looked anything but straightforward.
Life, work, family, and a few personal challenges meant training wasn’t where I wanted it to be. The sessions were limited, consistency was difficult, and there were plenty of moments where doubt started to creep in.
But sometimes the best advice is the simplest: focus on the next race.
That’s exactly what I was told. Strip away the noise. Stop worrying about what hasn’t been done. Focus on what can be done today.
With the unwavering support, encouragement, and belief from Trident Endurance and some close friends, I kept moving forward. No magic workouts. No shortcuts. Just trust in the process and commitment to showing up when I could.
Crossing the finish line at the Marlow Standard Triathlon wasn’t about a time, a position, or a personal best.
It was about proving to myself that persistence matters. That progress isn’t always linear. That sometimes simply getting to the start line and giving your best is the victory.
Finishing gives context to everything else.
The missed sessions. The setbacks. The frustrations. The sacrifices. They all become part of the story, not the excuse.
Not every finish line is about performance. Some are about proving you didn’t quit.
Grateful for the support, proud of the finish, and excited for what’s next.
