SATURDAY MORNING MENO MUSINGS
As someone who ‘survived’ perimenopause with no understanding, support or HRT, I encourage everyone to identify what is going on in their body, both physically and emotionally, from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
Also, identify when ‘symptoms’ are worse/better during the month. We have oestrogen receptors throughout our body so as our oestrogen levels fluctuate dramatically throughout the month, our ‘symptoms’ can fluctuate.
This information is invaluable when you present to a health professional for support.
Also, HRT is powerful, but it can take time to find the products/ combination/ dose that suits you. Every woman is different; what works for you may not work for others. Ask for body identical forms of oestrogen and progesterone. However, you may not experience the full benefits of HRT if other areas of your life are out of whack!
Are you getting enough sleep? Are you fuelling your body with the right nutrients. Are you hydrating? Are you exercising? Are you stress levels under control? Are you taking time out for you? Small lifestyle changes make a huge difference in perimenopause, and beyond.
It is important to remember that you’re moving into a new era. It’s ok not to ‘operate’ in the same way you did in your 20s/30s or 40s. It’s not necessarily a wind down, it’s a recalibration!
And finally, for the ultimate support, get yourself along to Glasgow’s largest menopause support event, the Scottish ‘Pause Summit . Feel heard, supported and cared about!
