Yvonne is a well known and respected BD listed judge with many years experience and she has judged all levels and abilities; she is straight talking with a great sense of humour. Contrary to popular belief, all judges want you to do well and Yvonne’s no different. She believes, even if you’re not riding a big flashy warmblood you can still boost your overall percentage by being prepared and riding an accurate test. Learn how to ride an accurate 20, 15 or 10m circle, how to make sure you’re straight down the centre line, use your corners to set your horse up and balance him for the next movement, learn how to do the elusive ‘give and retake of the reins’, how to establish a correct halt and salute, ask her what is meant by ‘one horse’s length’ or any other question that you’ve often wondered about, let her demystify some of the terms used and many more small but crucial elements that will increase your marks with little effort!

So if you are building up to your first ever competition or fed up of seeing ‘6’s on your sheet come and talk to Yvonne and the next day enter our Dressage series at Kilnhanger and see the results!

***Good Friday Dressage***

After a day of watching the internet for news from BEF, talking extensively to Merrist Wood we have made the decision to publish the times for Friday's dressage as planned.

Today we received the following notification from the Chair of British Riding Clubs:
Previously there was specific wording in the legislation stating that indoor and covered arenas would be considered as outdoor spaces for sporting activities due to their size and air flow. This wording is no longer present in the guidance. You can still use them for one person at a time, so a dressage competition or show jumping competition would be ok providing your judge is in a car/box and only one rider is in the ring at a time. Warm up would need to be outdoors. Unfortunately, they cannot be used for groups or coaching so clinics would not be permitted.

I will say that the BEF and the BHS are fighting very hard for the original wording to be added back in, so I do hope to have more positive news for you in the near future.

This sounds great in principal but in reality we need two arenas to be able to run on Friday - we would need to run for 15 hours solid to run in one arena so its not feasible to run in that way.
Therefore, in agreement with the Committee we have decided to issue times and set a deadline for Stop or Go at 12 noon on Wednesday. This hopefully allows those of you that have had to hire transport or make set arrangements to change them with more then 24 hours notice. ***West Surrey Good Friday Dressage*** COVID UPDATE 26/03/21
It’s become apparent in the last few minutes that indoor arenas may not be permitted to open on Monday in line with the other aspects of our sport. This obviously wouldn’t be good news for our planned Dressage on Good Friday. As it’s now the weekend and we don’t see us realistically getting any answers until the start of next week, WSRC will still plan and issue times in case the decision is overturned or in case Merrist Wood can accommodate us in some other way in order to run our event as planned.

We realise this is frustrating but there is nothing more concrete we can do or say right now.
