An update from Burys Live 💛
After four fantastic years of Burys Live (and before that, Godalming Beer Festival), we’ve decided to take a break and won’t be running the festival this coming year.
This hasn’t been an easy call. Burys Live has grown from a scrappy idea into a proper fixture on the local calendar, with people travelling from as far as Sheffield, Essex and Somerset to join us. Our fire-breathing stage has seen some incredible performances from local favourites like Stolen by Thieves, The Agreement and Jungle Brew, as well as amazing acts from further afield, including Frank the Cat and Faux Fighters UK. You’ve all helped make it something really special.
As many of you know, Burys Live is put together by a tiny, grass-roots team – just the three of us (Sam, Andy and Emma) around day jobs, families and everything else life throws at us. The festival has never quite become financially sustainable in its current form, and after a lot of thought we’ve realised we need to pause, catch our breath and work out what the future might look like.
The biggest thing we want to say is: thank you.
To everyone who’s bought a ticket, danced in the rain, sung along, brought the kids, and spread the word – you’re the reason this worked at all.
Huge love and thanks also to:
• Ian and his brilliant team at PG Events & Stage – the festival simply wouldn’t look or sound like it does without you.
• Lottie and Will, who created the perfect kids’ area and kept families happy year after year.
• Alan Heaney, who’s backed us from the very start and is always there when we need him.
• Andy Jefferys and everyone at Godalming Town Council – your support and love for the town make events like this possible.
• All our sponsors, advertisers and partners over the years – your support has meant the world.
• And most importantly, our amazing bar, setup and stewarding crews – you make this a special event and we literally couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for giving us your time, energy and good humour.
We honestly don’t know exactly what the future looks like, but we do hope this isn’t goodbye forever. If Burys Live returns in some form, you’ll be the first to hear about it here.
Until then, thank you for three amazing years of Burys Live. You’ve given us memories we’ll never forget. 💛
Sam, Andy & Emma
