An incredible first day of the festival yesterday. Several beers have gone already and many are very low so I’ve replaced beers upto number 53 and will continue to add beers throughout the day today. I’m printing new lists as we speak but I’ve added them in photos here also. Beers lists will be on untappd throughout and updated promptly. QR codes are on the posters on the walls of the pub to take you to right the page. Mrs Meltons SmokeShack will be cooking for us today and it looks like we have the promise of more good weather 😊 🏝️ ☀️ Bonjour!

We are hosting our 12th Winter Ales Festival from 19th-22nd March (Thursday-Sunday). Over 50 casks will be available over the long weekend plus craft kegs and traditional ciders. I’ve ordered about half the beers so far so if anyone has any recommendations then I’m happy to hear them. Love and hugs, Mike.

All beers are racked and cooled ready for Friday. Photos of the beer list are here and you can use the QR code for up-to-date changes. I’ve added the location of each beer so they are easier to find during the festival and I’ll update all the numbers as I work out which lines they can go on. I’m planning on putting some of the beers on for 6pm Thursday is anyone wants an early taster. Roughly 16 Cask and 7 Keg, just as a appetizer 😊. The weather is looking extremely warm so I’ll add more parasols and we have covered areas upstairs, downstairs and under the garden shelters. Order lots of water too, it’s a marathon not a sprint. 😁

Planning is well underway for our 11th Winter Ales Festival 13th-16th March. We will have 50+ Cask, 15+ Craft Keg and 12+ Traditional Ciders with at least 30 Cask and 10 Keg available at any one time. As each beer runs out I simply add another from the list until it’s all gone. This is my favourite event of the year, I basically spend 6 weeks buying the most interesting and exciting beers that are out there and then we put as many on as humanly possible. We are doing tasting cards as usual giving you 15 thirds (12 Cask & 3 Keg) for £24 or you can buy pints and halves as usual. Entry is free.
I’ve already ordered beers from Three Blind Mice, DEYA, Three Legs, Wye Valley, Overtone, Stealth, Twice Brewed, Hackney Church, Tileys, Wylam, Brew York, Arbor, Tun, Orbit, Duration, Polly’s, Attic, Beartown, Pentrich, Tiny Rebel, Inferno, Track, Atom, Left Handed Giant, Gypsy Hill, Siren, Lune, Libertalia, Metalhead, Silent but I’m going to need a lot more. If you have any recommendations please share them on this feed. This year Tiley’s are brewing a beer specifically for the festival, it’s still in development but should be around 4.5% and very hoppy. It hasn’t been named yet so please don’t be shy if you have a suitably witty suggestion. Love and hugs, Mike.

I’ve nearly finished the Beer and Cider list for this years South West Tap-Takeover (17th-20th October). There’s still room for a few more if anyone has any further recommendations. So many great breweries in the South West, I’m planning to have 100 beer in total from roughly 40 breweries. So far we’ve got Green Hopped beers, IPAs, NEIPAS. Fruited Sours, Pastry Sours, Bitters, Stouts, Mild, Porters, BA, Black IPA, Wheat beers, Gluten Free, Vegan, Alcohol free & Pales. We have 25+ ciders all from the South West too. We are doing tasting cards as usual. £25 gets you 15 thirds (12 cask & 3 keg) and the first 24 people to check-in 20 festival beers on untappd will get a free can of DEYAs Unchartered Waters.
