Moonlight. Stillness. Magic.
Few pieces evoke a sense of wonder quite like Debussy’s Clair de Lune. Originally written for solo piano, this beloved masterpiece has been specially arranged for our full festival orchestra, allowing its shimmering colours, sweeping melodies and luminous harmonies to unfold on an even grander scale.
At the heart of our closing concert on Saturday 20 June, this moment of pure musical enchantment sits alongside a programme full of drama, brilliance and orchestral energy. Beethoven’s Creatures of Prometheus Overture opens the evening with bright, heroic momentum, before international pianist and Festival President Viv McLean joins the Glossop Music Festival Orchestra for Mozart’s powerful Piano Concerto in C minor.
After the interval, Clair de Lune brings a moment of stillness and beauty before the concert builds to Beethoven’s exhilarating Symphony No.7, one of the most joyful and rhythmically charged works in the repertoire.
Experience it all in the atmospheric surroundings of Glossop Parish Church, where the music’s beauty, serenity and drama will feel perfectly at home.
Don’t miss the opportunity to hear Debussy, Mozart and Beethoven brought to life by the superb Glossop Music Festival Orchestra in a truly special setting.
