We just wanted to take a moment to say the biggest thank-you to everyone who made this weekend possible. From box office problems to the worst ticket sales we have ever seen, the global burlesque community truly banded together for us, and we cannot express the gratitude we have for each and every one of you.
We wanted to say an extra thank-you to everyone who bought a Pay It Forward ticket or donated to this show. We were able to host extra spaces at all events for members of our community who, for many reasons, were not in a financially viable position to buy a ticket.
The legends mean so much to us, and to be able to host them in Glasgow, our home, means more than we can express. Thank-you to Calvard Creative, Riding Room and Polo Lounge for allowing us to bring them to a safe space, to DeadBrilliant for photographing the event, Simon for being a tech wizard and our legend tour guide, Elle Glitterkiss and Stef Leopard for event managing, to every performer who performed and hustled their tassels off to help us bring this to the stage, and the biggest thanks to Tawny Kay and Roxie Royale from Highway to Hull, who once again brought us in on this joint venture. Same time next year?
To Madame E herself, where do we start? We are absolutely honoured you agreed to come to our humble home and spend time with us. Thank-you for helping create the world of burlesque as we know it, thank-you for sharing your stories, and thank-you for everything you’re still doing. We feel truly blessed.
…and after all this joy, it’s with wee heavy hearts that we announce that the October Friday Night Fling will be our last self-funded event until 2027. We’re not going anywhere, but for now we know this is the right decision, but we’ll be making some announcements soon… did some say GFoB 2027?
Once again, thank-you all so much. And FYI, yes, we did buy Madame E a bottle of Bucky, and she’s informed us she loved it!
