Dear Green visits Rwanda + Uganda - our first origin trip since 2024! 🇷🇼🇺🇬

Origin trips are such a crucial part of our learning, allowing us to source coffee with purpose. It’s one thing to sample each coffee once it’s been shipped to the roastery, but it’s something entirely different to experience the country from which the coffee comes, to meet and share our passion for coffee with the people who produce it whilst informing us of best practice for maximum benefit to the origins of our supply chain.

This week we’re visiting , a B Corp family run agri partner in the Rwenzori region of Uganda- the home of Bukonzo Dream, naturally processed coffee sourced for us by ! We also visited the seedling nursery which we partnered with last year to find 5000 seedlings to be distributed to farmers, this year we have funded shade trees and will visit the farmers who have benefited in this ongoing project allowing us to give back.

Huge thanks to our importing partners, Agri Evolve + Omwani, for facilitating this fascinating and inspiring trip. We’ll be sharing further insights in the coming days and weeks, so keep an eye out for more! 👀🫶

GCF couldn’t get enough of this coffee, so if you missed out here it is! Please welcome SHOWCASE #05 🍓☕️✨

We introduced our SHOWCASE series this time last year at GCF25, but if you’re not familiar, here’s the lowdown:

Showcase coffees, to us, are coffees that stand out as next-level, whether that’s due to sought-after exclusive varieties, world-renowned producers, award-winning lots, or experimental processes.

In this case, the story is the experimental processes created by the talented Jairo Arcila, a third-generation Colombian coffee grower. Read more above ☝️

It’s coffee that tastes like strawberries - what more do you need to know?! 🍓

Link in bio to pick up a bag for yourself, or try it for yourself at GCF to see what all the fuss is about! ♥️

Like every coffee roastery, we have a responsibility to ensure that the coffee we sell is ethically viable for the people who produce it. Sadly, however, this isn’t enough.

Arabica coffee that relies on specific high altitude temperatures to thrive, not too cold, not too warm - this is often why it’s grown in mountainous regions.

As the climate changes and the planet heats up, pests are more able to access coffee plants. The higher you go to avoid them, the higher the risk of frost damage to the plant. This reduces the sweet spot for arabica farming, and also means that conditions for farm workers become more challenging.

This Earth Day, Dear Green is proud to invest in World Coffee Research to support the development of climate-resilient, high-performing coffee varieties that will make coffee more sustainable for farmers, for the planet, and for our customers. 🙌

Best Glasgow Coffee Festival yet?! 🥳🙌

We’d say so - we had SUCH a great time this weekend with all of you wonderful coffee fans. It was so much fun chatting and serving coffee for you all and discovering your competitive streaks with our AeroTosser. All we can say to all of you is - THANK YOU. Same time next year?

We’d also like to thank Pasteis Lisboa for providing us with their delish pastel de natas, La Marzocco UK and Eureka Grinders for hooking us up with excellent kit, and Glasgow Coffee Festival for all their hard work.

Until next time 👋☕️🫶
