That’s a wrap! What a day! We had a queue form from about 8:50am this morning and since then it has been nonstop. Thank you to everyone who made our last day one to remember. Thank you for all the well wishes, it was amazing being able to see so many people one last time before we closed! I can’t thank you enough for the past 3+ years, it will be years I will forever cherish. Things won’t be the same.

This isn’t goodbye just yet though. We will be open on Monday at 10am to sell anything and everything that’s in the cafe. From cups to plates, for excess stock to the tables and chairs. Everything will be available (except the plants 😂) so if you want a bit of Zola’s history make sure to stop by!

Freshly baked sourdough on the shelves today! Not long left to get your Zola’s fix.

Our bread is great for freezing, slice it up and you have bread ready to go any day of the week.

Another Saturday is here already 🫣 we are busy prepping in the kitchen for a fully stocked counter from 9am.

We have been inundated with messages regarding holding stock in advanced. Unfortunately, due to how busy we have become we don’t have the time or capacity to hold boxes of cakes for people. We appreciate every single one of our customers and always want to ensure we are fair to everyone so holding stock just doesn’t seem right. That being said, we have now increased our stock levels dramatically, baking over double what we usually would every day! We have done this in the hopes that we don’t sell out as early and customers travelling from further afield will have a greater chance of securing bakes later in the day.

Our counter is the fullest it has EVER been today! So much so that we have actually run out of room…. We are excited to see you! Have a lovely Saturday 💚

Pain au chocolate goodness. Just over 2 weeks left to stock up on our pastries, we have doubled our stock levels to make sure everyone gets a chance to enjoy them.

They are great for freezing as-well! If you want to stock up so you have lots of Zola’s goodness once we close, just tightly wrap our pastries and pop them in the freezer for up to 3 months. Once you fancy a little treat, take them out and pop them in the oven at 180 for 5-8mins.

The time has come to announce our official closing date. Zola’s bakery will close its doors on August 16th 2025. The past 3 years have been such a great experience, we are so grateful for everyone single person who supported us from family, staff, customers and people even beyond the borders.

We are ready to start our next adventure down in Norwich and though this won’t be running a cafe we are excited to see what it will bring. Some may say we are stupid for closing the bakery as it’s the busiest and best it has ever been but the decision hasn’t come down to finances or foot fall, it comes down to wanting to spend more time with family and dogs. Wanting to enjoy more of life and have the spare time to do that.

Thank you once again for all your support! We hope we get to see every one of you before we close, so if you get a chance please stop by!

After we close we will make sure to pop up anything that we may be selling as I know a few of you have had your eye on some bits.

💚 CLOSED THURSDAY 19th JUNE 💚

We are a staff member down this week so there is a lot of juggling between baking and serving coffee. The weekend was our busiest to date both in the cafe and at the book festival so we have been playing catch up ever since. The cafe will be closed on Thursday to allow time for us to bake up a storm and replenish stock.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused, we will see you all again with a fully stocked counter on Friday 20th June.

The past 3 years have been a whirlwind of emotions in the bakery. After moving up from London to set up the only 100% vegan cafe/bakery in the borders we have grown and learnt so much along the way. The bakery started back in 2019 selling at markets, to cafes and then juggling through the Covid pandemic with online uk wide deliveries. When we made the decision to pack everything up and move to the borders we didn’t know what to expect. We were greeted with support but also hesitation, the first year was an uphill battle. We experienced hate that we never imagined but we were determined to prove ourselves and show what we could offer the community.

Since opening we have strived to offer something different, we have had people travel as far as Australia to try our bakes and we have built a community that we know inside and out. We have witnessed births, loss, love, friendships and growth. We have been apart of so many lives and we will be eternally grateful for that. So many of our customers we now proudly call our friends and that is a gift we will always cherish.

We would never change the past 3 years but we are sad to announce we have made the very hard decision to close Zola’s bakery. This isn’t a decision that came lightly, we love the community we have built over the years but a new chapter is starting in our lives. We are taking a leap and venturing back down south to Norwich. Me and my partner reevaluated what we want in life and ultimately that came down to wanting to spend more time with one another and our dogs. Having two very full on jobs doesn’t allow us much flexibility and realistically that’s what we want.

The bakery will continue to run as normal and stay open for many more months to come but sadly this will be our last year trading. We will miss being part of such a tightly knit community but ultimately we need to start a new chapter in our lives. We are not going away just yet, there is still plenty of time to enjoy what we have to offer. We will make sure to announce our final trading date closer to the time.
