✨THANK YOU!️✨️
A big thank you from the organising team to everyone who came along to the fantastic Spring Festival 2025!
An extra special thank you to those who also volunteered in any way, big or small - it takes an army to make an event like this successful.
We'll be sharing more reflection and photos from this fantastic weekend - once we've had a bit of time to recover!

✨️ Musings - Thoughts of a Co-ordinator, Day 2 ✨️

Thursday: Sunshine, with a chance of Showers

Highlights of the day: The fantastic session in the pub, seeing the number of people who were socialising and making new friends, or catching up with old, and getting my calling cards out for the General Dance. Also high contenders on my list would be the number of successfully run workshops and sessions.

Lowlights of the day: I have to put the temperature of the showers here. But actually, not much else could be classed as a lowlight!

Lessons Learned: Have breakfast before I leave the van in the morning, because I am not getting back there! I also still need to learn yesterday’s lesson about walking through crowded spaces when I need a wee, because that situation has not changed! Oh – and we are never going to finish making signs – there are just always going to be more needed!

✨️ Musings - thoughts of a Co-ordinator ✨️

Day 1 - Wednesday: Windy? What wind?
Highlights of the day: Seeing so many people enjoying themselves, catching up with old friends and making new ones. The satisfaction that we have made it - with a lot of help, but we have made it! And the Pub Session with so many musicians joining in and enjoying themselves.
Lowlights: The wind! Did I mention the wind? Oh – and wasn’t it windy! The part I didn’t share was that winds above 50mph would have closed the pub down…we hit 47mph! Phew!

Lessons learned: Check the forecast! Pace myself! And don’t walk through crowded areas if I really need a wee, because I would never get there with the number of people stopping me to ask questions, to say hello, or to give lovely feedback about the joy of being back at a Folk Group event at Easter Time!

We are really grateful that Lynda Norris will be leading an Easter Sunday church service for us at 8:45am in the Main Hall.

This service is open for all who would like to attend.

Lynda is in need of some musician volunteers for the service. If you would like to help out, there will be a sign up sheet in Reception.

✨️ Charity Fundraising ✨️

Raising money has long been a core part of the Easter weekend for the FDSG, and this year is no different! This year, we will be supporting two different charities:

The ever-popular raffle will be raising money for the Alzheimers Society. One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime. With the help of the funds we raise, the Alzheimers Society can give vital support to those who need it today, hold decision-makers to account, and fund groundbreaking research to transform the future for everyone living with dementia.

Our Church Service and Mummers will be collecting for the Teenage Cancer Trust, which our hosts TDMS are supporting this year. The Teenage Cancer Trust offers unique care and support designed for and with young people. They fund specialised nurses, youth workers and hospital units in the NHS, so young people have dedicated stuff and facilities to support them throughout treatment.
