Orders are absolutely flying in VB Nation!

We were a bit worried when we pulled out of our retailers but we can't quite believe how much of a master stroke it's turned out to be in terms of time and money 😅

Not that we didn't love supporting other local businesses or walk in and see people chomping away on our biltong but it's nice to see all the traffic coming through our website so thanks everyone for continuing to support us directly! 🙌🏼

They'll be a jerky restock in a couple days and then I reckon it's time we added a couple more jerky flavours to the range don't you? 👊

And just like that Jerky capacity goes up 5 fold 💪

We've got some trial flavours on the go currently, Guinness BBQ, Guinness Chipotle and Mango & Scotch Bonnet but if you've got any ideas then drop a comment! We love anything that's out of the norm so fire away 🔥

If we like an idea, we trial it and its pukka then you can be the first person to recieve a bag free of charge 🙌🏼

MORE WEBSITE STOCK THAN EVER BEFORE!!!

Before you all get scared off, we've learnt from social media before that people can take things the wrong way, TO. BE. CLEAR......

🗣 VILLAGE BILTONG IS GOING NOWHERE! MORE WEBSITE STOCK THAN EVER BEFORE! 🗣

We've taken the decision to pause all retailers with immediate effect, with the price of beef going up and Megan due 9th April 👶 (double trouble time 👶👶) then time vs money, the maths just aren't adding up, the margain is too small and we're slaving away to supply our retailers for in reality not a lot of moolar 😅 (through no fault of there's we may add!)

We just want to take the time to thank every one of our pubs/shops/clubs/butchers, instead of going for the easy option and buying/selling mass produced (sh*te) they chose to support a local business and we appreciate that massively! Some of these guys have supported us since we started and maybe one day we'll do business again 🙏

Will never forget the proud feeling we get when we pop in a pub and see someone chowing down on our product but at the end of the day it's more profitable to sell direct than wholesale and we don't have the time or capacity to make wholesale worthwhile at the moment.

For now all sales will be through us, through the website or messenger.

2024, the year of work/life balance for Village Biltong!

A bit of a different year this year as we've pretty much cut the operation in half due to little Rory keeping us on our toes 😅 but a decision that's paid off, instead of restocking constantly, chasing payments, churning this stuff out and not having a second, the "work/life" balance has turned out pretty spot on with VB going back to more of a hobbie and actually looking forward to batches!

Once again we've been able to not just support various charities but also support our friends too as they took on their different charity challenges 🙏

Thanks to everyone that's placed an order, purchased from one of our suppliers, liked a post, shared a post, whatever you've done to support us we are most grateful 🙌🏼

And of course Thanks to our retailers that continue to support us and more importantly support local! ( couldnt fit any more tags in the pic Hatton Butchers)

Let's see what 2025 brings ... Village Jerky is nearly there, the microbiological results were absolutely spot on we just need to sort the admin now (January's job 😅) oh and baby #2 ... We've already halved the operation, we'll try not to half it again 😂

What's all this Jerky talk we keep seeing then?

Well the loved for dried/dehydrated/cured meat didn't start with biltong it actually started with jerky. The difference? Biltong is air dried, jerky is cooked or smoked low and slow 💨

Couple that with the love of food and experimenting with new things, trialling new flavours, noticing there isn't enough small, independent jerky businesses out there and here we go, Village Jerky (running alongside Village Biltong!) is beginning it's journey. We've had a fair few runs now at it and we reckon we've got 2 flavours locked down 💪 Original 🇺🇲 and Jamaican Jerk 🇯🇲

What's next then? When can ya get ya mits on some?!

Well we've always been a believer on doing things properly, keeping you guys safe most importantly, no cowboys over here 👋

So now we're happy with these flavours we're going to send them off for microbiological testing to firstly make sure there's no nasties and secondly to determine a shelf life, this is to keep you guys safe and to cover our backs! 😅

Be a few weeks/months off yet but just no, the jerky is incoming!!!
