St Patrick's Day Charity Ball Edinburgh

St Patrick's Day Charity Ball Edinburgh A page dedicted to the St Patrick's Day charity ball held in Edinburgh annually.

The Edinburgh St Patrick’s Day Charity Ball is an annual event which takes place at the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa. The Ball first started after the Irish Consulate opened its doors here in 1998 and quickly became one of the main social occasions for the Irish community (and its friends) in the city. Over the years, the diversity of our guests has increased and we welcome an ever-growing variety

of nationalities determined become a little bit green on the inside for this one special night a year! It is a fantastic night full of glamour (black tie), great food and drink, fabulous entertainment and most of all good craic. Our guests have a great time from 7pm until 3am and we also raise money for local homeless charities through a fantastic raffle and auction.

One of the standout moments from this year’s St Patrick’s Day Charity Ball was the incredible performance from the talented team at Irish Dance Performance Troupe ☘️💚

We’ve had lots of guests asking how they can get involved — and we’re delighted to share that you can join classes through Irish Dance Village and Dance Base at the Grassmarket.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or just fancy giving it a go, it’s a brilliant way to experience Irish dancing and be part of a fun, welcoming community.

Three incredible desserts… but only one will make it onto the menu. 🍰

Earlier today we were at the tasting with the chefs ahead of the Edinburgh St Patrick’s Day Charity Ball on 21st March — and let’s just say the decision was not easy.

Swipe through to see the three contenders.

Which one would you choose?

Guests joining us on the night will find out which dessert made the final cut. We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone for what promises to be a fantastic evening of great food, music, and craic.

We’re just about finalising numbers with the hotel and may still be able to squeeze in one or two last places. If you’d like to join us, please email [email protected] in the next day or so and we’ll see what we can do.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there! 🍀

☘️ Did You Know? 🇳🇬

Most people know St Patrick as the Patron Saint of Ireland… but did you know he is also recognised as a Patron Saint of Nigeria?

This connection reflects the strong historical ties between Irish missionaries and Nigeria, who played a significant role in education and community development across the country.

It’s a powerful reminder that St Patrick’s legacy reaches far beyond Ireland, uniting cultures and communities around the world.

🌍 Irish roots. Global impact.

Supporting Scottish Huntington's Association 💜

We are proud that the Edinburgh St Patrick’s Day Charity Ball 2026 will once again support the incredible work of Scottish Huntington’s Association — the only organisation in the country dedicated exclusively to families impacted by Huntington’s disease.

💜 What Is Huntington’s Disease?

Huntington’s disease is a devastating, hereditary condition that damages the brain over time.

It can leave people unable to walk, talk, eat or drink independently.

• Each child of a parent with Huntington’s has a 50/50 chance of inheriting the disease
• It affects movement, thinking processes, personality and behaviour
• It can cause serious mental health challenges
• Its impact is felt across generations

Families living with Huntington’s require highly specialist, personalised support to cope with the complexity of the condition — and to navigate a system where awareness is still far too limited.

💜 How Your Support Makes a Difference

Scottish Huntington’s Association is currently navigating rising costs and funding pressures — but remains committed to ensuring that no family faces Huntington’s disease alone.

Funds raised at the Ball — through our after-dinner auction and table raffle — will help to:

✅ Provide specialist Huntington’s disease services to families across Scotland
✅ Help people remain at home longer with loved ones
✅ Support young people and young carers, including those at risk of developing the disease
✅ Reduce financial hardship for families forced to give up work due to caring responsibilities
✅ Deliver Huntington’s disease training to frontline healthcare professionals

Every ticket purchased helps provide vital, life-changing support.

Supporting St Catherine’s Homeless Project 💚

We are proud to be raising funds for St Catherine’s Homeless Project, a vital initiative run by the Sisters of Mercy from their convent in Lauriston.

Their work provides essential support to Edinburgh’s homeless community and to individuals overcoming addiction — offering not just food, but hope, dignity and a path forward.

🍽️ More Than Just a Meal

St Catherine’s provides:

💚 Hot meals for those in need
💚 Advice and practical support
💚 Financial assistance
💚 Safe space for support groups

By opening their doors to people at their most vulnerable, they are helping individuals rebuild their lives and take positive steps forward.

💚 How Your Support Makes a Difference

Funds raised at the Edinburgh St Patrick’s Day Charity Ball 2026 — through our after-dinner auction and table raffle — will help:

✅ Provide hot meals and daily essentials
✅ Support individuals overcoming addiction
✅ Maintain safe, welcoming spaces for those in need
✅ Ensure this vital project can continue helping Edinburgh’s most vulnerable

The Sisters of Mercy work tirelessly behind the scenes — and your support truly helps sustain this important mission.

Supporting Dunedin Connollys Gaelic Athletic Club at the Edinburgh St Patrick’s Day Charity Ball 2026 💚🏐

Community has always been at the heart of the Ball — and in 2026 we’re proud to once again support an organisation that is making a real impact across Edinburgh.

This year, funds raised through our after-dinner auction and table raffle will help support the incredible work of Dunedin Connollys— a club that is not only growing Gaelic football in Scotland but creating opportunities for young people across the city.

🏐 A Club That’s Changing the Game

Dunedin Connollys is now one of the largest Gaelic football clubs in Scotland, with:

✨ Over 180 boys & girls (U8–U18) in their thriving youth section, Dunedin Óg
✨ Around 80% of youth players coming from non-Irish backgrounds — a brilliant reflection of their outreach work in North Edinburgh schools
✨ Dedicated school coaching & PE programmes introducing children to a new sport and keeping them active
✨ 80 adult members across men’s and ladies’ teams
✨ Major success on the pitch too!

This isn’t just about winning trophies — it’s about belonging, confidence, opportunity and community.

💚 Where Your Support Goes

Funds raised on the night will help:

✅ Expand Gaelic football sessions in local schools
✅ Support a dedicated Games Development Officer
✅ Increase access to sport & exercise for young people
✅ Help underage teams travel for games and tournaments across Britain & Ireland
✅ Contribute toward future facility development in partnership with local sports clubs & the GAA

🍀 Giving Back is at the Heart of the Ball 🍀

One of the most important parts of the Edinburgh St Patrick’s Day Charity Ball is the difference we make together.

This year, we are proud once more to support these three incredible charities:

✨ St Catherine’s Homeless Project
✨ Dunedin Connollys Gaelic Football Club – Youth Section
✨ Scottish Huntington’s Scottish Huntington's Association

Over the coming days, we’ll be shining a spotlight on each of these organisations — sharing more about the vital work they do in our community and why your support on the night truly matters.

The Ball has always been about more than just a great evening out. It’s about connection, culture, community — and giving back.

And speaking of the night itself… 🍸✨

There are still tickets available for this year’s Ball. We’ve also made it easier for smaller groups to join us, with ticket options now available in groups of 4 or 6 (please contact us directly for other ticket requests)

We know not everyone has a full table of 10 — so we’ll happily seat smaller groups together with other like-minded guests to ensure a brilliant night for all.

Whether you’re coming with friends, colleagues, family, or making new connections on the night — we’d love to have you with us.
