7aside again tonight with more new people which is always nice to see. different people getting out the house and becoming friends through exercise is what our aim from the start was with Checkmate.

As you may of seen we are hosting a memorial football game/after due on the 27th of this month for our friend Luke Barron who we sadly lost a year ago 💔

Due to some circumstances we are left without a singer which were performing at 6pm on the night at Brandon cricket club, if anyone can help us or know of someone please comment or message 🙏

We are also having a raffle on the night and have already been generously donated some brilliant prizes, if anyone would be so kind to donate any more we would deeply appreciate this🫶

We have a few places left for the midlands tough mudder July 4th, transport there and back is included in the price of the ticket. There is over 20 of us from Checkmate taking part! If this is something you fancy doing, get a space while you can!🫵

❤️ LUKE BARRON MEMORIAL WALK UPDATE ❤️

(Same date, same time)

After walking one of the mountains in the same area yesterday, we've decided to change the route. The original route was due to be a lot more challenging than the one we completed, and while that's fine for some of us younger lads, it wouldn't be ideal for a large group with mixed abilities.

The walk will now be the Aira force and Gawbarrow circular , allowing more people to come together and take part in remembering Luke.

📅 Saturday 20th June
🕘 9:00am

I've done this walk before with young kids, and it's around 5 miles (roughly 3 hours). We want this day to be relaxed and for everyone to complete the walk together.

The route is absolutely beautiful, with ancient woodland, red squirrels, waterfalls, old stone bridges, picnic areas and stunning views over Ullswater. It finishes by lake Ulswater, where anyone who wants to can take a dip and cool off after the walk.

This day is all about celebrating Luke's life and bringing people together, and we feel this route is much better suited to that.

Bring plenty of picnic food and we'll all sit together afterwards, share stories, reflect on Luke's life and make it a special day of remembrance.

A massive thank you to Callum Tingle and Ashley Henderson for all the hard work they've been putting in behind the scenes for Checkmate. 💛

Not only have they created an unbelievable brand and design pack that will help take Checkmate to the next level, they've also chosen us as their Charity of the Year and will be raising money throughout the year to support what we're building.

The amount of belief they've shown in Checkmate means a lot to us all. It's support like this that helps us continue creating opportunities for men to connect, improve their wellbeing and be part of something positive.

Thank you both for backing our vision and being part of the journey. We can't wait to see what we can achieve together. 👏💛

7 a side tonight as the numbers in our football group keeps growing week to week. This is exactly what we want to see! lads who don’t know each other, coming together and enjoying themselves through exercise💪

This is why Checkmate was made to bring people together and build a strong community and tonight was the perfect example of that! 💙

What a week at Checkmate. 💛

Loads of new faces, plenty laughs, and plenty exercise. That's exactly what this thing is all about helping lads feel better through group exercise, good company and a bit of crack.

We want men to know they're wanted, valued, and that they don't have to carry everything on their own. Whether it's dropping us a message, giving someone a call, or simply turning up to an event and getting those feelgood endorphins flowing, our door is always open.

And we finished it all off at an absolutely brilliant Family Fun Day with The Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust down at Tudhoe Cricket Club. This Sunday a couple of us lads from checkmate will volunteering and helping out the brilliant The Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust with there family fun day ❤️

It’s going to be a class day for all ages with loads going on for the kids and families throughout the day.

If you’re looking for something to do, get yourselves down, enjoy the atmosphere and help support an unbelievable charity that does so much for local families going through tough times.

Would be great to see plenty faces there 🙌
