We are led by our wonderful, talented conductor - Jamie Cordell, whose enthusiasm, humour and patience make the task of learning music so enjoyable. Our dedicated accompanist for over 25 years is Anthea Smallwood. We are one of twelve choirs who take part in The Leith Hill Musical Festival (www.lhmf.co.uk) held in April each year at The Dorking Halls. We also hold an annual Christmas Carol Concert
for charity and a Summer Concert. We celebrated our 75th anniversary in 2012 with a wonderful concert at St Martin's Church, Dorking where we sang Fauré's Requiem and Jongen's Mass accompanied by Martineau Brass and The Chameleon Arts Orchestra. As well as enjoying the learning and performing of all sorts of music, we also have a very healthy and active social life. We are affiliated to a German choir from Cologne - Männer-Chor Köln Vogelsang (MCV) - and have enjoyed reciprocal visits for over 25 years. MCV last visited Newdigate in September 2010, and we enjoyed a weekend of activities and socialising with a joint sell-out concert at St Martin's Church, Dorking. BGN similarly enjoyed a wonderful trip to Cologne in 2012, to help celebrate MCV's 60th Anniversary. We are always delighted to welcome new members to our choir so if you have a love of music and singing, then come along and try us out. We do not hold auditions, and you do not have to be able to sight read music or have a wide knowledge of music to join us. Help will be given and all we ask is that you have a willingness to learn and attend rehearsals regularly.
