So, what about our industrial heritage? Well, we’re pretty proud of it ✨
The River Mill sits within the historic Darley Abbey Mills, part of the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the mills dating back to the 1780s. And whilst a shiny new-build venue might give you a perfectly blank canvas, we think there’s something much more special about a place that already has a story to tell.
The exposed brick, original beams, vaulted ceilings and the River Derwent on our doorstep aren’t things we’ve added for character — they’re the real thing. They give the venue a sense of place, and a feeling you simply can’t recreate from scratch.
So yes, we’re a little bit old. A lot industrial. And completely in love with it.
