Understanding where our food comes from has never been more important. Open Farm Sunday gives visitors the chance to see firsthand how farmers are responding to changing conditions while continuing to produce food, helping build greater awareness and trust in the food system.

When people have the chance to step onto a farm, ask questions and see food production first-hand, perspectives can change.

This year, Open Farm Sunday welcomed 196,000 visitors, with 64% attending for the first time.

The result? More understanding, more trust and a stronger connection between people and the farms that produce their food.
In fact, 91% of visitors said their trust in British food and farming increased, while 94% felt more motivated to buy British food following their visit.

It is and we're celebrating all the farmers at the heart of British agriculture.
From producing high-quality food and caring for livestock to managing our landscapes and supporting rural communities, farmers play a vital role every day, often behind the scenes.

Today is a reminder that supporting British farming starts with understanding and valuing the people behind it. Choosing sustainably produced British food and supporting local farmers are simple ways to show that support and celebrate the contribution they make.

This summer showed just how much there is to enjoy across Britain.

From farm shop ice cream to seasonal fruit, vegetables, meat and cheese, supporting British farmers and growers is a great way to enjoy the very best local produce.

A huge thank you to the 283 farms that welcomed visitors on Open Farm Sunday and shared the story behind our food.

Since 2006:
3.6 million visitors have visited farms
6,620 Open Farm Sunday events have taken place
2,573 farmers have opened their gates

Behind every visit is an opportunity to discover where food comes from, meet the people who produce it, and gain a deeper understanding of how farming can work hand-in-hand with the environment.

For farmers, Open Farm Sunday provides a unique platform to share their story, build trust and inspire future generations.

Over the last 20 years, these conversations have helped strengthen the connection between farming and society, creating greater understanding, trust and appreciation of British food and farming.
