Cwmbran Centre for Young People To provide the young people of Torfaen with the support and assistance they need to achieve their goal

Cwmbran Centre for Young People (‘CCYP’) is a friendly and welcoming ‘Training Facility and Drop in Centre’ for young people. We offer a wide range of training, services and activities to support young people to develop life skills and gain qualifications. CCYP particularly supports Young People who are unemployed, living alone or homeless, alcohol/drug dependent, young parents, carers or offender

s and/or have high levels of behavioural issues/emotional problems. The Centre provides recreational, educational and social activities, information and support including counselling and mentoring. When planning delivery of our Youth Work provision, we follow the seven core aims for children and young people provided by the Welsh Government adopted from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). We also ensure our provision is based upon the Five Pillars of Youth Work in Wales. (Provide learning opportunities that are Educative, Expressive, Participative, Inclusive and Empowering). OUR VISION:
Whatever you need, we’ll help you get it, whatever you want to achieve, we’ll help you do it and when you do, we’ll help you celebrate it! OUR MISSION:
To provide the Young People of Torfaen with the support and assistance they need to achieve their goals. Our Aims & Objectives:
Centre
• To create a Framework to meet the needs of all young people.
• To ensure equal opportunities.
• To enable participation in learning experiences which will enable young people to fulfill their potential as empowered individuals and members of groups and communities.
• To involve young people in part of the decision making process in the centre.

• To be aware of the health and development needs of staff and clients.

Tonight, the Juniors helped us celebrate our volunteers as part of Volunteers’ Week.
Our volunteers are a vital part of the centre, and we truly wouldn’t be the same without them. Their time, dedication, and support make a huge difference to our young people every day. Tonight was our chance to say a massive thank you for all the hard work you do – we appreciate each and every one of you! 💙

This month is a celebration of love, acceptance, individuality, and being proud of who you are. At CCYP, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, respected, and free to be themselves without fear of judgement.

We are proud to stand alongside our LGBTQ+ young people, staff, volunteers, and community members, celebrating the diversity that makes our community so special. Whether you’re out and proud, still figuring things out, or supporting someone you care about, you are welcome, you are valued, and you belong.

Happy Pride Month from all of us at CCYP! 💙

Last night the Juniors took part in a water fight and had an amazing time 💦☀️

The centre got soaked, the young people got soaked and even the garden ended up drenched! Lots of laughs, lots of running around and plenty of fun from start to finish.

A brilliant evening with some very soggy young people by the end of it 😄

I’m really pleased to have allocated funding to help Cwmbran Centre for Young People continue running their open-access drop-in sessions five nights a week 👏

CCYP provides a safe, welcoming space for children and young people, offering a positive alternative to spending time on the streets or in the town centre, where there can be a risk of getting drawn into antisocial behaviour.

With the support of qualified youth workers, young people can take part in a wide range of activities that build confidence, encourage participation, and support their social development. The centre also offers fantastic facilities, including pool tables, a gym, table tennis, darts, music equipment, and even a newly developed gaming suite.

Not only does this vital work support and safeguard young people, but it also helps reduce pressure on front line services.

💦 JUNIORS TONIGHT 💦

With the lovely weather tonight, we’ll be having a water fight during session! ☀️

Please make sure young people arrive with:
🧴 Suncream already applied
🧢 A hat/cap if possible

Young people are also welcome to bring a change of clothes and/or a towel if needed 😊

Our Juniors session runs every Wednesday from 4pm-6pm for ages 7-13 and is completely FREE to attend! We offer a range of activities including arts and crafts, gaming, sports, music, pool tables, cooking activities, trips and much more 🎨⚽🎮

If your young person hasn’t been before, feel free to come along and give it a try — new young people are always welcome! 💙

Please note: A parent/guardian will need to complete a sign up form before a young person can attend their first session.

With the weather warming up, we know more young people will be heading out to rivers, lakes and reservoirs to cool off 🌞💦

We want everyone to enjoy themselves, but please remember—open water is not the same as a swimming pool.

⚠️ Rivers can have strong undercurrents, even if they look calm
⚠️ Cold water shock can hit quickly, even on a hot day
⚠️ Hidden rocks and debris make jumping extremely dangerous
⚠️ Reservoirs can be especially risky—deep, cold, and often have steep sides that make it hard to get out

If you’re heading out:
✔️ Never go alone
✔️ Tell someone where you are
✔️ Avoid jumping or diving into unknown water
✔️ Stay away from restricted areas like reservoirs

We’d much rather see you safe and back through our doors than take risks that could end badly.

Look after yourselves and each other 💙
