Croydon Pride Recommends: Must-See Q***r Theatre at Croydonites Festival of New Theatre

The Croydonites Festival returns from 4-21 November, bringing weeks of incredible theatre, comedy, music and live performance to venues across Croydon.
With dozens of fantastic events across the programme, we've picked two acclaimed LGBTQIA+ productions we'd especially recommend, packed with humour, heart, creativity and unforgettable q***r storytelling.

🎭 Hannah Maxwell - Turn Your Fcking Phones Off*
📅 Wednesday 4 November, 7:30pm
📍 The Front Room, Croydon
☎️ A payphone. A secret job. Doomscrolling. Dolly Parton. And one very important story.
Fresh from a sold-out Edinburgh Fringe run, Hannah Maxwell's latest show is funny, moving and fiercely relevant. Blending personal storytelling with sharp social commentary, this award-winning production explores our relationship with technology, connection and what really matters.

🏆 Fringe First Winner
🏆 The Stage Fringe Five: Breakout Theatremakers
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "One of the most relevant, urgent and vital shows you will see." - Broadway World

🎭 Rosa Garland - Primal Bog
📅 Thursday 5 November, 7:30pm
📍 Society Room, Stanley Arts
🟢 Clowning. Slime. Le***an chaos. Live tattooing.
Primal Bog is the gloriously weird new show from Rosa Garland, creator of cult hit Trash Salad. Expect an outrageous celebration of desire, identity, bodies and embracing the messy parts of ourselves.
Winner of a 2025 The Skinny/Fest Bestie Award, this is q***r performance art at its boldest, funniest and most unapologetic.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Deliciously warped, deliriously funny." - The Skinny
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Rosa Garland is a supernova talent." - Metro

These are just two highlights from a packed festival programme.

Today we celebrate authenticity, not pressure.

Whether you're out to everyone, a few people, or nobody at all, there is no right or wrong way to come out. Your identity is yours to share, if, when and how you choose.

Happy National Coming Out Day.
