Smiles all round at the prize-giving at the recent annual dinner of Comrie Curling Club.
In a year when when it seemed almost everyone was watching curling at the Winter Olympics in Italy, Comrie Curling Club had a very successful season, with members competing for six different trophies.
The club league competition went right down to the final match, with many close games and some fantastic performances over the season. The league ended up as a two-horse race between two new Skips: David Hustwayte and Tony Smith, with the two teams tied on points and the title decided on the final day by the number of points scored on the ice over the season
Other competitions included a knock-out cup, pairs, and three Bonspiels — involving all of our members. There was also a special “points” competition, where members try to play a series of set-piece trick shots.
At the dinner, held at Comrie Golf Club, the club’s impressive range of trophies was handed out by past president, Christine Hepburn.
The Club’s members are looking forward to the new season, which starts in October. As the club is always on the lookout for new members, in the run-up to the new season, it will be offering people the opportunity to try out curling, to learn the basics and see if this is something you might enjoy.
Curling is a fun and challenging game combining physical and mental skill.
It is one of the few sports where all ages, genders and abilities can play together and against each other. Why not give it a try?
