𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁, 𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁.
I may have been dangling by the thinnest of threads, but that guttural, primal instinct to leap into action, call out abhorrent behaviour, and protect my child came out with a force so strong it even took me by surprise.
𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁.
𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁.
𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙛𝙪𝙨𝙨.
Well, this good little girl grew up.
The fifty-year-old me is still learning to speak up for herself.
But the mother in me will fight like hell for her children.
And I have made damn sure to raise them with the confidence and courage to speak out when somebody crosses boundaries they had no business crossing.
