Join fashion historians Dr Serena Dyer, Fashion Historian and Gemma Esvelt for a fascinating illustrated talk exploring what women really wore during the Georgian era.

Through original garments, paintings, diaries and beautifully recreated clothing, they’ll reveal how fashion reflected status, identity and everyday life in the 18th century.

After the talk, enjoy a traditional afternoon tea in the elegant surroundings of The Buxton Crescent Hotel.

An evening of dancing, live music and Georgian celebration awaits at the Cavendish Ceilidh. 🪭🎻

Join us in the beautiful Assembly Rooms at the Buxton Crescent for one of the highlights of the Buxton Georgian Festival. With live folk music from Maplewood Band and a friendly caller to guide every dance, the Cavendish Ceilidh is perfect for complete beginners and seasoned ceilidh dancers alike.

This year's ceilidh has a naval-inspired dress code, celebrating Georgian figures including Nelson, Sir George Rodney and Thomas Cochrane. Georgian dress is warmly encouraged, whether you choose a naval theme or your favourite Regency attire.
