Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival 2024

We are pleased to inform you that the annual Christmas Tree Festival in Burton Overy will be held this year between Friday 29th November - Sunday 1st December.

We are proud of our festival which is the oldest in the county and has been occurring every year for more than 20 successive years.

The Festival is seen by many of our visitors as the beginning of the Christmas period - so why not start the festivities with a visit to St Andrews in Burton Overy for our festival.

We would like to invite everyone to join us at the festival. So please help us to spread the word. The entrance fee is £3.00 for adults – children are free.

We also hold our usual Christmas Festival market in the Village Hall – entrance is free – where there will be a variety of interesting stalls including a raffle, tombola and refreshments.

We also encourage entries from the local community. Local schools and charities and businesses regularly enter a tree. Why don’t you enter a tree this year? The theme is of your own choice. We can advise you as to the rules of the festival.

SO PLEASE PUT THESE DATES IN YOUR DIARY AND JOIN US WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS FOR WHAT PROMISES TO BE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND OF GLORIOUS CHRISTMAS TREES.

Opening times:
Friday 10.00am – 6.30pm (village hall closes at 5.30pm)
Saturday 10.00am-5.30pm
Sunday 10.00am – 5.00pm.

We conclude our festival with a Carol Service amidst the illuminated trees at 5.00pm on Sunday. Everyone is welcome.

Proceeds from the festival are shared between St Andrews Church and the Burton Overy Village Hall with a donation to a local charity.

The local charity for 2024 is, “The Bridge - Homelessness to Hope”.

We are excited to tell you that we are, once again, holding our annual Christmas Tree Festival in 2023 on:

Fri 1st December - 10.00am - 5.30pm
Sat 2nd December - 10.00am - 5.30pm
Sun 3rd December - 10.00am – 5.00pm

The Nominated Charity for 2023 is the Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in Leicester. The Festival is a fun event for people of all ages. We look forward to seeing you!

The Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival was first held in 2000 and was the first in the county. It has been held each year since then and continues to raise a significant amount each year for the Church, Village Hall and Nominated Charity.

The organising committee put a huge amount of time into planning the festival in detail – and they are immensely grateful for all the willing help they are able to recruit. They aim to keep its traditional flavour, plus including some fresh new ideas to keep it exciting and attractive to visitors.

The village hall will be serving drinks and cakes, plus gift and craft stalls and an outstanding raffle hamper stall.

To enter a tree online www.burtonoverypc.org.uk/christmas-tree-festival.html or make contact by email for a paper entry form.

The Winner of the 2022 Christmas Tree Festival was Natalia and Anne Bloor with "The Safe-tree in England" Natalia and her 5 yr old son were taken in by Anne's daughter and her family in Leicestershire, having fled Kyiv in July, due to the conflict in Ukraine. Natalia wanted to draw attention to all the other Ukrainian families separated and spending Christmas in the safety of many kind hosts, but away from home.

Second was "Her Mages'tree" Louisa Rawlings and Zoe Williamson,
third was the LGHMU Hat tree by the Crafters of Great Glen. [The hats are to be donated to babies at the Leicester General Hospital Maternity Unit.]

In the Children's section 1st was the Lavitree by George, Arthur and Charlie Barbour, 2nd "The Sugar Plum Fairy Tree" by Arabella Pain and third "He's got the whole world in His hands" by Sparklers toddler Group, Great Glen.

The festival was a huge success again with profits going to the Salvation Army, St. Andrews Church and Burton Overy Village Hall.
Thanks to all the organisers who put the Festival together, to those who put in some great trees and to all those who visited the Festival and helping to raise precious funds for The Salvation Army, St Andrew's Church and the Burton Overy Village Hall.
