So that’s a wrap!

Thank you so much to all my customers over the years for all your orders and support. Plus all my friends, family and fellow bakers who have helped me out with supplies, queries, deliveries and edible images when my printer packed up!

I’ve still got a number of orders to make until November, but my order book is now closed for good.

For buttercream cakes and cupcakes, I can highly recommend abigailscakeco , plus pop down to her cafe in Stoke Prior and see the delicious bakes she has on her cake counter! For wholesale cakes, it’s got to be gracierosebakery and for edible images, dibdabcraftsandballoons.

I’m definitely ready to hang my apron up and move on to my next venture.
Whereas I’ve had people in the past refer to me as the ‘cake lady’, I’m now being recognised as the ‘funeral lady’ and my new career as a funeral celebrant is going really well!

Just a quick reminder that my order books close for good at midnight tonight.

You can order cakes, cupcakes or cookies for any date up until the end of November.

A 50% deposit secures your date for orders £40, any orders under £40 would need to be paid in full on booking.

If anyone has made enquiries but not yet paid, then I’m afraid I won’t be able to take your order. I have contacted everyone who has made enquiries to let them know.

It’s my last Mother’s Day as a cake businesses!

I had been planning on a different design this year, but I’ve already had lots of requests for the bouquet style cupcakes again for Mother’s Day this year, so again I’ll be offering either the bright or pale pink cupcakes pictured below. (Obviously each will have the Happy Mother’s Day topper rather than the Happy Birthday pictured on the one.)

Just a quick note to say thank you for all the messages following my announcement last week!

Dates are filling up fast, so if you would like to order a cake for a date up until the end of November, please make sure to put your order in before I close my books at the end of March.

For orders over £40, a 50% deposit secures your date, with the balance due a week before collection. For orders under £40, the balance is due in full on booking.

Announcement!!

7 years ago I registered with the council, took my first Level 2 Hygiene certificate and got insurance and Polka Dot Cupcakes was launched.

Through Covid it was lovely to help the local community with getting flour, as I was able to buy in bulk and deliver it to them. I also donated hundreds of cupcakes for nurses at the QE, The Alex and POWCH and to local nursing homes. Funded by the success of the Cake Aways during lockdown.

After lockdown, when everyone realised they had to go back out in the world and needed to go on a diet after eating lots of cakes, I gave up on my promise to ‘never make big cakes’ and have lost count of how many I’ve now made!

I’ve really enjoyed being part of people’s celebrations and making cakes for the same customers for their engagement, weddings, baby shower and baby’s birthdays!

I’ve also loved the way that cake makers in Bromsgrove are all so friendly and supportive of one another. We don’t treat each other as competition, we were helping each other source ingredients or cake boxes during lockdown, advising each other on ingredients or recommending each other. Special thanks to Abigail’s Cake Co and Gracie-Rose Bakery!

My children are now all at school and it’s almost time for me to move on.

I’ve recently trained as a Funeral Celebrant and am now starting a really rewarding career helping families at a really hard time. It’s a real privilege to help them say the best goodbye possible to their loved ones.

I won’t be closing Polka Dot Cupcakes until the end of November, but will be closing my books at the end of March.

If you would like to put in an order for cakes, cupcakes or decorated biscuits for any date until the end of November, please order as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!
