Girls Are Loud has never been about one genre, and part three last week reminded us exactly why.

It’s always been about creating a platform where women can showcase their craft. Whether that’s behind the decks, fronting a band, performing live or creating art. From garage to jungle, DnB to psych rock, ska, punk and everything in between, every lineup is different, but the mission stays the same: putting female talent front and centre.

Part 3 felt like another step forward, and we couldn’t be prouder of what this night is becoming in our BS5 home

Huge love to for setting the tone, .boot.hill.all.stars for bringing the energy, for that seriously fun, bass-heavy garage set, .official for jumping in with those old and new jungle bangers, residents and for closing the night with a proper DnB rinse out, and of course the amazing whose artwork also adds something special to the night.

Thank you to everyone who came down, danced, supported the artists and performers, and helped create such a welcoming atmosphere.

We’re already counting down to the next installment which we’ll be announcing soon.

Different sounds. Same mission. See you on the dancefloor ✌️

The Boot Hill All Stars!!

If you like your banjo music, fast, filthy and with more than a little cleavage, then look no further Brethren. The Boot Hill All Star show promises songs of tequila fuelled evenings, dubious morals and twisted family values. Bluegrass Ska at its finest.

Previous shows include varied supports from The Damned, via The Beat to The Wurzels and Hayseed Dixie. Regulars on the festival circuit since 2008. It’s a great, fun show - full of audience participation and certainly not to be taken without a degree of fitness and a sturdy corset

FORTRESS AND THE AUDIO CITIZENS
Fortress is a Bristol underground raver turned songwriter. After years DJing illegal raves, running a DIY record label, and managing DJs, she swapped the decks for a guitar and taught herself to sing because life gave her too many stories to keep quiet. With sharp humour, brutal honesty, and zero filters, she writes raw alternative punk-pop-blues about situationships, s*x, mental health, and the chaos of real life. Fortress brings together fellow Audio Citizens to turn those stories into loud, unapologetic songs.

We are back 25th June at for another edition of our brand new night showcasing women in the creative industry!

Kicking off with the fabulous followed by the incredible .boot.hill.all.stars we are SO EXCITED to have some festival vibes in the pub this month!
Your hostesses and playing some bouncy filthy goodness as well!

And for the first time we are opening 2x30 minute open deck slots for up and coming DJs who want to have some experience playing out and showcasing their bag of bangers to the place so message us on here and we will be picking the best next week!

We at GAL are on the hunt for bands to fill up our calendar for the new GIRLS ARE LOUD night in Bristol! Do you play? Are you in a band? Know anyone who would fit the bill?!

GIRLS ARE LOUD is a NEW night starting on the last Thursdays of the month at The Old Stillage BS5!
Our plan is to have femme centric bands and DJs eventually splashing into the wonderful world of performance too with the stillages very own incredibly talented Pekoe on the art.

Come celebrate all that is women in the creative industry! 🩷🧡
