One of Birmingham Light Festival’s legacy artworks, Ideas Happen Here lights up Newhall Square every evening, celebrating the Jewellery Quarter’s rich history of innovation, manufacturing and design. Taking the form of an abstract, free-flowing lightbulb, the installation invites residents and visitors alike to pause, reflect and consider their own creativity and ideas.

Commissioned by and and created in collaboration with Rough Diamond, RAWLS and Taylex, this glowing artwork reflects Birmingham’s long-standing culture of making, thinking and imagining. A shining symbol of place-making through light, it’s a must-see when exploring the festival and the city’s year-round light artworks.
