MARCELLO is the first film festival dedicated to Italian Cinema in the city of Birmingham in the UK, where the largest Italian community resides, second only to the one in London; at the center of the event: the family, the comedy, the genre and life outside your country.
MARCELLO is film screenings, short movies contest, concerts, panel & workshops.

MARCELLO is also a SHORTMOVIE COMPETITION devoted to the theme of family (every kind of family obviously), borders (geographical, political, social, cultural, etc ..) and on the films that explore the meaning and the difficulties of living out of your own country in an ironical and funny keys.
MARCELLO is open to any shortmovie, under 20 minutes, with subtitles in italian or english, with a preference for those that deal creatively and with a personal look with the theme of the festival.
MARCELLO wanna host the best of international shortmovie productions, the most innovative works and the most promising filmmakers.
The festival aims to be not only a point of view on cinema, but also a meeting place: meeting between authors and the public, between different works and cultures, between life experiences and vision, through screenings, debates, workshops and special events.
MARCELLO has been made possible with support from Film Hub Midlands through funds from the National Lottery. Film Hub Midlands support people to watch, show, and make films in the Midlands. MARCELLO è il primo film festival dedicato al cinema italiano nella città di Birmingham in Uk, dove risiede la più grande comunità italiana seconda solo a quella della capitale londinese. Al centro della manifestazione: la famiglia, la commedia, il genere e la vita al di fuori del proprio paese.
MARCELLO ha al suo interno una competizione per cortometraggi, dedicati al tema della famiglia (senza limitazione alcuna), dei confini (geografici, politici, sociali e culturali etc) e dei film che esplorano il significato della difficoltà del vivere al di fuori del proprio paese, ma che possano essere raccontati in maniera divertente, ironica e simpatica.
MARCELLO è aperto a qualsiasi cortometraggio, della durata inferiore a 20 minuti, affine ai temi del festival e con sottotitoli in inglese.
MARCELLO vuole ospitare le migliori produzioni internazionali, le più innovative e promettenti. Il festival non vuole solo essere un punto di vista sul cinema attuale ma anche un punto di incontro per autori, pubblico, esponenti di settore e culture.
MARCELLO è organizzato dal Vice Consolato di Birmingham e da Paguro Film ltd.
