I’d like to take this opportunity to also thank all those who attended my Leonard Cohen appreciation performance at Birkenhead Library in February. It was a fantastic turnout and I am very grateful for your positive feedback. I will be performing another hour slot of Cohen Songs on June 23rd at 1pm at Quirky a cafe in Hoylake. Hope you can make it. Updates nearer the time. 🙏

Barack Obama once said, “There’s something powerful about live music. You get to experience the passion and the power of a song in a way that can’t be captured in a recording.” You’re not wrong, Baz.

Elixir Oxton was the place to be once again for The Oxton Acoustic Sessions’ February event! And rightly so, with an incredible night of live music featuring a mix of stunning original songs and well-loved covers. Our fantastic guest performers included bluesman Iain Paterson, singer-songwriter Katie Mac, rock-pop duo Phil and Steve (of T.M.I Too Much Information), and the enchanting harp and voice of Erica Harwood Music. Plus, our hosts John, Lawrie, and Trevor added their own musical magic to the night!

We’re back again on Wednesday, 5th March, from 7–10 PM, so mark your calendars for another great evening of live acoustic music!

But wait—there’s more! News alert! Between our monthly sessions, our very own host Lawrie Quigley is launching his own live music night! Lawrie Quigley and friends debuts this Wednesday, 24th February, bringing a fresh mix of acoustic performances. Join them at Elixir Oxton from 7–10 PM for an equally wonderful evening of drinks, food, and great company—and free live acoustic music.

See you there!

Lawrie Quigley is hosting a music evening once a month between the monthly Oxton Acoustic Sessions.

Louis Armstrong said, “Music is life itself.” What a wonderful world it is when listening to Live music. And what a wonderful time we had last Wednesday with Guests Our Small Corner, Dave and Hev, and our Special Guest, Phil Chisnall and Lynne Strange. And we have had a wonderful time hosting The Oxton Acoustic Sessions throughout 2024 and for the last 20 months. Our thanks go out from us Hosts, Lawrie, John, and Trevor, to all those who have performed for us, all those who have hosted and helped, and above all, to all the fabulous people that have come to watch and listen, making for the most agreeable and enjoyable Wednesday evenings. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope to see you in what we hope is a very Happy New Year 🥳

"Live music reminds us of our shared humanity. It’s a place where souls can dance freely."– Stevie Nicks. She’s not wrong. Souls have been dancing freely at Elixir Oxton again last Wednesday. As well as numbers from our hosts John and Trev, we had Slightly Foxed and Bernie supporting our Special Guest, Rainshadows, launching the new album by Lawrence Quigley, “Shadow in The Rain”. A great songwriter accompanied by a virtuoso Violinist, Jim Walker. Wonderful stuff. Now for the last gig of the year this Wednesday…..Come on down. Our Hosts and this week’s Guests Our Small Corner and Dave Carrington will be performing in support of our Special Guest, the well known and respected and seasoned local singer / songwriter, Phil Chisnall, accompanied by Lynne Strange. Last chance for you to appreciate how lucky we are to live in leafy Oxton where great times can be had appreciating local musical talent for free in a cosy and friendly wine and cocktail bar, even on a mid-week Wednesday. Free entry from 7 til 10 pm.

Neil Young said, “Live music is better” which pretty much says it all. Get off Spotify and the radio and get to Elixir Oxton on Wednesdays from 7pm and see live music from The Oxton Acoustic Sessions. Last Wednesday was fabulous, with the driving force that is Americana /roots rockers Creakin' Gates as Special Guests. They were ably supported by Invited Guests Dawn Williams Singersongwriter, Jonny, and David R Cooke, as well as hosts John and Lawrie and Trev. Every week is different, with different performers. This Wednesday is a Special -Special Guest slot for us. Our very own host Lawrence Quigley, published artist and singer-songwriter, will launch his new album ‘Shadow in the Rain’ live for us, with Jim Walker accompanying on violin, as the duo, Rain Shadows. Don’t miss this one. Superb original songs of Life and Love. And great support will be on offer from Helen Delamere, Jim Pearson Music, Slightly Foxed and Bernie. A very friendly and warm and welcoming vibe in a lovely venue. Great food and drink, and free live music. On your doorstep. See you there.
