Jubilee WestFest 2012

A Royal Tournament - a day of challenge and celebration for Weston and Newbridge

Saturday June 2nd, 12 noon to 9pm

On the Weston High Street and Recreation Ground

On the 2nd June, Weston High Street, from the scout hall to the All Saints Centre, will be closed to traffic for a street party from 12 noon to 5pm. Games, music and entertainment will add to the fun and gifts

and delicacies will be found amongst the craft and food stalls. From 2pm the Weston recreation ground becomes a fantastic sports zone with opportunity for all to “come and play” football, tag rugby, basketball, volleyball, cricket, rounders, dodgeball or athletics, also fun activities such as welly throwing, tug of war, sack race, maypole dancing and a bouncy castle. Alternatively cheer on the over 40’s football or the local children’s rugby. After 5pm the focus is on music with bands and a bar and barbeque set up on the recreation ground. As a final highlight, the foot tapping Bath Blues Brothers round off the day, playing from 7pm. The festival is for everyone, of all ages and we hope it will be a great celebration and day to remember, whether you just come along or take part. If you would like more information or would like to assist in any way, please post a message on the wall here, or contact the organisers at [email protected]

Whatever your age or interest, we hope you can find a way to join in. We will need many volunteers to make this a successful day. Here are a few areas where help is needed:

• Marshall, programme seller, steward, setting/clearing up (one to two hour slots)
• Running a stall (this can be done for your own charity of choice, there is no charge but a donation from your proceeds to the festival costs would be appreciated)
• Running a game such as a coconut shy or hula hoop, running an activity such as a craft, art or other interest (this would need to be suited to outdoors or under a gazebo).
• Assisting with refreshments
• Providing an entry for the art exhibition or local information/pictures on past royal celebrations or village sport

Working party meetings open to all to assist in planning this event are scheduled for the 6th March, 3rd April and 1st May at 7.30pm in the Courtyard Room, All Saints Centre, High Street, Weston.
