Introducing Ollie, our Percussion Tutor at Rainbow Rhythms, and Megan, our Vocal Coach!

Ollie brings rhythm, energy and creativity to percussion, helping students build confidence while having fun with music. Megan helps singers develop their voices, technique and performance skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Together, Ollie and Megan are excited to inspire the next generation of musicians at Rainbow Rhythms! 🎶🌈🎸🎤

Rainbow Rhythms is a free LGBTQ+ music group created to bring people together through the joy of music, friendship and creativity.

Our sessions are a safe, welcoming and supportive space where LGBTQ+ young people can meet others, try something new, develop musical skills and build social confidence and self-esteem — all while having fun!

We’re delighted to share that Barnsley Pride’s Rainbow Rhythms has been awarded £700 in grant funding from The Sarah Nulty Power of Music Foundation.

This fantastic support will help Rainbow Rhythms continue its work in bringing people together through music, creating a welcoming and inclusive space for members of the LGBTQ+ community and helping to build connection, confidence and community.

We’re incredibly grateful to Sarah Nulty Power of Music Foundation for recognising the importance of Rainbow Rhythms and for investing in a project that makes a real difference to people in our community.

Funding like this helps us continue to create opportunities, strengthen relationships and ensure that everyone has a place where they can feel welcome, included and free to be themselves.

It was lovely to see everyone come together to try something new.

If you are interested in learning to play an instrument, meet new people and join in the fun, pop along to our music group - Led by Qualified musicians.

A true drag legend, an icon, and a fabulous force of nature — thank you for bringing so much joy, laughter, glamour and pride to our community. We hope your special day is every bit as fabulous as you are! 👑💋

Today, we also raise a glass and remember another very special drag legend, Tess. 🕊️💜 Though she may no longer be with us, her legacy, laughter, spirit and contribution to the drag and LGBTQ+ community will never be forgotten.

Two legends, forever connected by the joy they brought to so many. 🌈❤️

Rainbow Rhythms is an LGBTQ+ social instrumental group that brings people together through the power of music, creativity, and community.

Open to musicians of all abilities, the group provides a welcoming, inclusive space where LGBTQ+ people and allies can connect, learn, and share their passion for music in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Whether you're dusting off an old instrument, learning something new, or simply looking to make friends with people who share your interests, Rainbow Rhythms is about much more than making music.

Every rehearsal is an opportunity to build confidence, reduce isolation, celebrate diversity, and create a sense of belonging. Together, the group proves that when people come together in harmony, they can create something truly special—both in music and in their community.

When / Where:
Every Monday. Starting Monday 7th September - Monday 14th December @ The Garrison, 6.30pm - 8.30pm.

Barnsley Pride has officially been registered as a charity with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s development and its commitment to supporting Barnsley’s LGBTQ+ community.

Jo, Chair of Barnsley Pride Board of Trustees said: “Becoming a registered charity is a hugely significant moment for Barnsley Pride and for everyone who has supported us throughout our journey."

You could get the train… if you fancy paying £50+ for a return ticket, changing trains three times, playing “which platform am I on?” and potentially ageing several years before you reach the seaside. 😂

Lush day out in today. A big thank you goes to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a success. It was brilliant to see so many smiling faces and such a great community spirit throughout the trip.

And the adventures don’t stop here! Our next stop is Blackpool, where we’re looking forward to another fantastic day trip on 19th September.
