Alton Yuletide Festival

Hello after a number of recent enquiries we would like to remind everyone that there won't be the big Yuletide Festival event in Alton this year.

We will instead see the return of the four Christmas Markets in the Market Square each Saturday, 10am-2pm, from 20th Nov. The last market will be on the 11th Dec and will coincide with the Hampshire Farmers Market and Lions Craft Market in the High Street.

There will be a different selection of stalls each week offering a variety of Christmas gifts, decorations, arts & crafts, and fun charity stalls. Its the perfect excuse to visit Alton each week and shop local too, with a variety of independent shops, cafes and boutiques alongside some well-know brands and eateries.

There will be live entertainment at each market from Alton Morris dancing, Alton Rock Choir, Encore Choir, and the Luminosa Young & Rising Voices youth choirs.

Alton Town Council have decided to host a series of Christmas Markets again for 2021 in the Market Square. The markets will take place over four Saturdays on the 20th Nov, 27th Nov, 4th Dec and 11th Dec from 10am-2pm.

Pitches will be allocated on a first come first served basis so if you would like to apply for a free charity/non-profit community pitch or a £20 commercial pitch at one of the markets please complete this booking form asap to avoid disappointment - https://forms.gle/sbGpfTE4LEuekAjC9

Best Dressed Christmas window competition 2020

Alton Town Council are inviting local businesses to share the Christmas spirit around the town with a best dressed Christmas window competition.

Alton Town Council Officers will be photographing shop windows during the week of 6th December we will publish the photos on our website and social Media and set up a poll for people to vote for their favourite. The idea is to raise more awareness of Alton’s business and encourage more customers to take a closer look.

The people choice online vote will start on Friday 11th December and will finish on Sunday 20th December.

Following on from yesterday's post about our shop local campaign, we had a number of really exciting plans for launching Christmas in Alton through social media this year, particularly to encourage people into the Town Centre.
We knew things were going to have to be a little different from normal and we had re-imagined our events in a socially distanced way but we had to press the pause button at the weekend in light of the new lockdown to figure out how it affected our plans.
On reflection and in view of the fact that we all need a little light relief, we have decided to press on with the social media campaign and so over the next few days and weeks you will see a number of posts which are designed to be light-hearted and make everyone smile, if just for a little bit. They are not intended to downplay the seriousness of the current situation in any way but are written to remind us of how much we love our community, our town and to say, no, Christmas isn't cancelled this year...Enjoy.

Alton Yuletide Market are on Sat 28th November, 5th, 12th and 19th December. They are pitch only (you need to provide your own gazebo/table/chair etc.)
£20 commercial fee / FREE to charity & non-profit organisations.
