A landmark festival to celebrate the life and achievements of Alcester’s most famous Elizabethan, Sir Fulke Greville.
In September 2018 the town of Alcester will host the Fulke Greville Festival. Sir Fulke, who died 390 years ago this year, was a talented poet and James I’s Chancellor of the Exchequer. To mark the occasion, an historic festival of talks, lectures and tours have been organised between to include presentations by leading researchers on his poetry and plays, many of which have been compared in quality to Shakespeare’s own celebrated sonnets.
