Quite a number of new followers added to my account lately. Thus, let me introduce myself again. Hope oldies wouldn’t mind 😊
I am Nikita Achkasov, aka Nikita DeckProject.
I’m 35, BSc Engineering.
My experience in yacht carpentry started 17 years ago in Livorno 🇮🇹at the Benetti shipyard, as a foreman, carpenter and team leader
In 2015, I started my own yacht carpentry and fine furniture contractor’s business in Barcelona, you know of as DeckProject.
Since then, my team carried out quite a number of projects throughout Mediterranean from Spain to Turkey, as well as in Germany, Holland, France, and UAE, both on yachts and private mansions
⁣Since recently, I added a highly professional team of bespoke furniture designers, engineers and technologists to my business. And yes, in this Summer I quadrupled the production facilities in my workshop off Barcelona, and started a new company in Dubai. All this is aimed to offer my Clients a full state-of-the-art service

Refit projects seem to be easier or faster than new builds. Yet, that is not always the case though. Don’t underestimate the complexity of a refit project. Sometimes it can be a more time-consuming and resource-intensive task to do. Yet, DeckProject can and does provide this service 🙌🏼

We totally filled 2,000+ linear meters of caulking on glass, planking, and decks.

Usually, it was a part of the preparation of various yachts for a complete painting. Caulking and sealing works consist of several stages such as:

➡️Removing and cutting all kinds of sealant adjacent to the teak, paint, and stainless steel, between the glass and paint.
➡️Re-caulking all the seams properly and securely with the brand and color of sealant picked to fit each and every material after the completion of painting works.

It takes time. Different situations can occur during the process. Thanks to the high-level coordination, project management, and high-skilled team 💪🏼, we manage to deliver all the projects on time despite the scope of work and contingencies. There’s nothing more wholesome, timeless, and regal than natural wood grain. That is the very reason DeckProject loves to work with wood. We provide our clients with a wide range of materials, including Sapeli 🪵

Typically, Sapeli is applied for veneer, plywood, furniture, cabinetry, flooring, boatbuilding, and many more. It is resistant to chemicals, stains, water, fire retardant, abrasion, and more. Besides that, heartwood ranges from moderately durable to very durable regarding decay resistance, having moderate insect/borer resistance.

One of the use cases of Sapeli in our work was the client's request to fix the water leak in the yacht's interior and replace the damaged veneer on the walls.

What was done by our team:
▶️Removed the damaged panels;
▶️Veneered — made a new veneer of Sapele wood;
▶️Installed new panels on-site.

What’s new in DeckProject?

1️⃣ 4 contracts signed in the EU related to some challenging interior and exterior carpentry projects both on yachts and in luxury residences

2️⃣ At the beginning of 2023, we’ll start construction works to launch our new office in to be very close to our clients and to welcome our clients to discuss any possibility of collaboration on new projects.

3️⃣ Opening a new fully equipped workshop in Barcelona with a 650m2 total area that includes a working area of 450m2 and 200m2 storage space, including contemporary machinery and our own spraying booth for high-end bespoke furniture production.

4️⃣ We’ll definitely join and welcome some of the new high-skilled specialists in our team to perform our projects.

5️⃣ And, of course, we will do our best to complete all our projects on time with the best result and highest quality to satisfy our clients!

The Cannes Yachting Festival, one of the main events in the world of yachting, will take place on September 6-11, 2022. Considering the fact that a new financial year starts in September at every shipyard, Cannes sets the tone for the development of the industry for the coming season.

The boat show brings together:

🔹Yacht owners to relax and compare models of all shipyards at once;
🔹Engineers of the yachting industry to evaluate technological solutions.

The amateurs and representatives of the shipbuilding industry are welcome in 2 exhibition areas:
🔷Le Vieux Port — reserved for motor yachts;
🔷Le Port Canto, where the industry of sailing, brokerage, and water toys, as well as a new area dedicated to innovation, will be brought together.

Each year the boating show hosts an eclectic offer of boats from 5 to 45 meters on water and less than 10 meters ashore. These boats are sailing or motor, monohull or multihull, rigid or semi-rigid hull. Currently, almost 600 yachts 🛥from 10 to 45 meters and 430 exhibitors have confirmed their participation in the event in the heart 💙 of the French Riviera.

Custom-made furniture for yachts is one of the most popular services provided by DeckProject. We love to create aesthetic and functional furniture. The cabinet in the photo is one great example of such unique furnishings 💥⁣

That is both storage space and an additional place to sit. You can put a cushion on top of the cabinet to get extra comfort, while specially designed corners keep it from falling out. The cabinet is made in marine plywood covered with 2mm teak veneer with all fittings made of marine stainless steel, which guarantees durability even in harsh sea 🌊 conditions. ⁣
