Title: "A Song of Nile and Snow"
Artist: Mervat Diab
Medium: mixed media
on canvas
Size: 50*75
Year: 2025
Concept Statement:
This painting is a symbolic fusion between the essence of Cairo and the soul of Finland. On one side, the glowing sun and majestic pyramids reflect the warmth, history, and golden heritage of Egypt. On the other, the snow-covered mountains, soaring bird, and deep pine forests capture the serenity and purity of Finland’s nature.
In between, the river flows as a shared lifeline, connecting both lands. The boat journeys from one world to another, carrying with it a silent message of unity, cultural exchange, and artistic dialogue. The contrast between warm and cool tones reflects a visual harmony between opposites—sun and snow, ancient and modern, north and south.
This artwork invites the viewer to imagine a world where borders dissolve, and where art becomes the universal language of connection and peace.
