Master of the Ocean es un evento elite de deportes acuáticos único en su clase que combina profesionales de todo el mundo en las disciplinas de surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing y stand up paddle boarding (SUP). El evento se celebra exitosamente a finales de Febrero desde hace 12 años en la Costa Norte, específicamente en las Playas Encuentro y Playa Cabarete, en la República Dominicana, y tiene u

na duración de 5 días. De día el público se deleita con las hazañas de los competidores sobre las olas, y en las noches todos disfrutan al ritmo de los beats de djs internacionales y locales en Playa Cabarete. Esta fiesta culmina con un gran evento musical de clausura llamado IndepenDance el 27 de febrero, en el Club Ojo de Cabarete. It is unique for combining professionals who master the disciplines of surf, wind surf, kit surf and stand up paddle boarding (SUP) from around the world. The event takes place each year since 2003 at Playa Encuentro| Playa Cabarete, on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, and lasts 5 days. During the day, the public enjoys the performances of the athletes on the waves, and during the nighttime everyone dances to the beats of international and local Djs at Playa Cabarete. This seaside celebration peaks with a closing party under the stars called IndepenDance, on February 27th.

We’re thrilled to welcome Barbadian
Brian Talma back to Master of the Ocean — a true legend of water sports with over 40 years of impact on the global ocean scene.

Brian first came to the North Shore of the Dominican Republic in 1988 for the Cabarete Wave Slalom, and has since built an extraordinary career across disciplines and continents. Among his many accolades, he was inducted into the Windsurfing Hall of Fame (2023), represented Barbados in the 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games, and achieved multiple podium finishes on the PWA World Tour, including standout performances in Hawaii and beyond.

A pioneer of movement and culture, Brian played a key role in shaping freestyle windsurfing, helped introduce SUP to the Caribbean, and later brought it to Europe. Through his Beach Culture World Tour, he has spent decades promoting this lifestyle worldwide—with Master of the Ocean proudly serving as a destination on the tour for over 10 years, connecting Cabarete to a global community of ocean lovers.

A former Master of the Ocean champion and consistent top competitor, Brian is equally known for his extraordinary island charisma and infectious energy — qualities we’re especially excited to share during Community Day, where he will connect with the next generation alongside Happy Dolphins DR Foundation.

Based in Barbados, Brian leads deAction World, offering lessons in all five water sports, vibrant beach culture experiences, and tropical accommodations.

This is more than a return — it’s a celebration of legacy, culture, and the true spirit of the ocean. 🌊
