SILVERRUDDER Registration update - 191 days to go.

450 boats from 13 nationalities have signed up.
No fewer than 257 German boats and this year there will be a record number of Swedes on the starting line with 37 enrolled boats. There is also a new record of 8 Norwegian, 7 Dutch and 7 Polish boats.
No fewer the 20 First 27 SE have sighed-up to try and take away Kåre Gibsholm-Madsen’s European Championship title.
Three of the new First 36 SE will be racing, including Jan Hansen new ‘The Beast’, which will be on the starting line… the skipper’s identity is to be disclosed after he/she buys a ticket on 9 August when the re-sale starts.
On the multi-hull scene, record holding skipper Jan Andersen on his self-designed and self-built Black Marlin is back with us after his 20,000 nautical mile cruise. 6 Dragonflies in the Large Multihull class are keen to keep him off the podium.
There are so many stories to tell… write to me and tell me if you have bought a new boat or are doing a major refit and attach photos. The Silverrudder Family loves to see what we are all doing in order to prepare for the 18 September.

SILVERRUDDER 2026 is sold out

Congratulations to the 450 SILVERRUDDER participants that signed up to race the happiest sailing race on the planet. Great to see old friends and newcomers to the event on the participants list.

We apologize for the difficulties you might have experienced during the rush. As a result our website and registration system will both be sent on early retirement and the Team will start looking for a replacement system.

If you would like to sponsor the SILVERRUDDER either with a website, manpower og expert knowledge on websites we would love to hear from you.

Having secured your entry you can now start polishing, anti-fouling and thinking great thoughts on how to optimize your boat.

Finally, please pay at once so that Jørn Varming can get a good night’s sleep.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Dear SILVERRUDDER Friends and Family

Svendborg Amatør Sejlklub and the SILVERRUDDER TEAM wishes to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

The SILVERRUDDER Challenge is in many aspects a lot like Christmas Eve. It takes enormous amounts of planning and preparation. No details may be overlooked. Some of us even travel huge distances to participate in the year’s festivities. We meet with our loved ones, friends and sailing family and enjoy a few intense days enjoying each other’s good company and exchange tales of the months that have passed since we last met. For many of us, we will only meet on this one special occasion each year. Suddenly, it all comes to an abrupt end in one great exchange of gifts or finisher T-shirts. Some of us are fortunate enough to get the gift we longed for all year, and some of us will have to try again next year.

The SILVERRUDDER team have gone into winter mode, but not hibernation. The team is busy preparing for next year’s major sailing event and some of us spend our evenings in the basements inventing minor improvements that will make our boats just a little faster or better suited for single-handed sailing when the season starts in the New Year. In the same manner, based on lessons learned this year, we also look forward to implementing a few minor improvements to the race next year. Improvements that will enhance your safety without compromising the simplicity or spirit of the race.

The overwhelming enthusiasm surrounding the SILVERRUDDER motivates us to do our utmost to make the 2026 SILVERRUDDER a memorable and safe event for all participants, family, volunteers and sponsors. We hope that you will utilize the time leading up to the event preparing your boats and yourselves, mentally and physically for this personal challenge against the elements and your competitors, and always thinking excellent seamanship and “safety first”.

We can hardly wait to see you all in Svendborg on 18 September 2026 where friends will meet and compete in the beautiful waters around Funen.
