The FIDE Freestyle Chess World Championship 2026 is scheduled for 13-15 February.
The 2026 FIDE Freestyle Chess World Championship, scheduled for February 13–15, 2026, at the Schloss Weissenhaus resort in Germany, is the inaugural official world title for Fischer Random (Chess960) chess. Featuring eight elite players—including qualifiers like Magnus Carlsen—it prioritizes, raw talent and creativity over memorized openings in a rapid and blitz format
Event Schedule & Timing
The event follows a compact three-day structure at the Weissenhaus Private Nature Luxury Resort:

Arrival & Media: Players arrive on February 11, with a dedicated media and content day on February 12.
Day 1 (Friday, Feb 13): Opening Ceremony followed by a Rapid Round-Robin stage. All eight players face each other once with a 10+5 time control to determine seeding.
Day 2 (Saturday, Feb 14): Knockout stage begins with Semifinals and placement matches. Matches are played with a 25+10 time control.
Day 3 (Sunday, Feb 15): Finals, placement matches (deciding 1st through 8th place), and the Closing Ceremony.
Departure: Players depart on February 16.
