We teach and learn with an educational principle that fails to tap into the immense potential of the digital and conceptual age. Learners miss the chance, during one of the most crucial developmental phases of their lives – childhood and adolescence – to use their innate curiosity, humanity, and creativity to learn what is essential for their future. They are unable to utilize their long years in school to acquire the skills truly in demand today and tomorrow, to creatively, imaginatively, collaboratively, and courageously tackle the great challenges facing humanity in a sustainable way.

How can creativity be fostered in 21st-century education?
The CLASSROOM THINKTANK initiative has invited over 100 creative and educational pioneers from 35 countries to rethink learning.
To make the ideas they developed accessible to everyone with children or involved in school learning, the book When School Sparks Ideas was published in 2022.

With a growing network of ambassadors for creativity promotion, we aim to drive small-scale changes in schools. By spreading the vision of an innovative learning culture, along with ideas, principles, and practical methods, we seek to ignite enthusiasm for a school that fosters creativity instead of conformity.

From a book to the International Future Learning Festival.
On July 3rd and 4th, 2025.
At the Liederhalle in Stuttgart.
This unconventional educational festival brings together learners, educators, innovation professionals, educational visionaries, entrepreneurs, and pop stars from around the world with fun, all to spark excitement for learning innovation.

Our vision is to create an international community that believes in the joy of lifelong learning and is convinced that creativity is one of the most important skills for the future – and will remain so, even in the age of artificial intelligence.

It’s great to see that already over 25 contributors from Australia, Belgium, Germany, Finland, Great Britain, Japan, Sweden, and Switzerland have committed to inspiring with their contributions at the festival.

HOW TO FOSTER CREATIVITY IN 21st CENTURY EDUCATION?
WHAT CAN SCHOOL LEARN FROM THE CREATIVE INDUSTRIES?

The international initiative aims to foster dialogue and resource-sharing between the and visionaires, reimagining the 21st-century classroom and redefining the role of education in the age of ideas and artificial intelligence.

SOMMER+SOMMER kicked-off this initiative at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in cooperation with the Berlin School of Creative Leadership already in 2014.
Since then a global community of +100 creatives and education futurists from 35 countries inspires parents, teachers, principals, policymakers, and ministries of education from all over the world – via workshops, speeches and even a book.

We would now love to bring the most innovative approaches, that had been collected globally on stage at the SXSW EDU 2024. Together with passioned Education Movement makers from Sweden, Finland and Germany.

Philippe Longchamps (SWEDEN)
Recipient of the award "Best Teacher in Sweden" and finalist for the "Global Teacher Prize". Head of Department at the Bilingual Montessori School of Lund, and Overseas Director of the International Society for the Advancement of STEAM. The Canadian-born History, Geography and Technology Teacher champions an active, interdisciplinary, and integrative teaching approach. Co-Author of the book "Tranformative Education".

Charlotte Graham (SWEDEN)
Co-Author of the book "Tranformative Education", Headmaster, and formerly a well-established Teacher of Music.

Kristof Fenyvesi (FINLAND)
Researcher of STEAM Learning & Contemporary Culture Studies at the Finnish Institute for Educational Research, University of Jyväskylä - Jyväskylän yliopisto, Finland, Director of Community Events of the Bridges Organization, the world’s largest mathematics&arts community, co-founder of the Experience Workshop STEAM Network
