🫀 If you could be dropped inside your own body, you would discover that just under your skin you are a branching being made of rivers, whirlpools and ripples in the tides of existence. The world flows into you and you flow into the world.

🫀 𝘌𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘳 is a collective virtual reality experience that takes audiences deep inside the landscape of the body, through the processes that sustain life, including the complex rivers and tributaries of our cardiovascular system.

𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘦 returns as part of 𝘈𝘴 𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘷𝘦, 𝘚𝘰 𝘉𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘸, opening 9 May as a Collateral Event of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.

Curated by Elizabeth Zhivkova and Farah Piriye Coene of ZEITGEIST19, the exhibition is set inside the former Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian on Giudecca, the exhibition traces the connections between cosmos and Earth, atmosphere and abyss, human and more-than-human. In this context, the work takes audiences beneath the surface and into the sensory world of cetaceans, a bridge between our imagination and their umwelt, their lived sensory perspective.

Happy Earth Day 🌍

Day turns to night, night turns to day, an exhale and an inhale. Wherever you are today, try this: breathe in as the sun rises over the Earth, and breathe out as it falls into night. Feel your rhythm slow. This is resonant breathing, a technique that steadies your system, fostering calm and focus.

The Earth rotates slowly before you. You float. From this perspective, the atmosphere is the co-creation of all breathing beings, an invisible current streaming through forests, across oceans, between mouths and leaves.

Astronauts call this the Overview Effect, that moment, seen from space, when borders dissolve and the planet is felt as one living, breathing whole. To breathe is to participate, to enter the stream of life’s constant exchange.

🪐𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 is one of the artworks presented in 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦 | 𝘔𝘢𝘶𝘳𝘪 𝘖𝘳𝘢: 𝘈𝘯 𝘐𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦, our monographic touring exhibition that traces our interconnectedness to the more-than-human world.

In creating the work, we listened into black holes, encountering the insight that the Big Bang produced only the lightest elements — hydrogen and helium — while all others were forged in the thermonuclear cores of dying stars. As Carl Sagan put it:
“Our existence hinges on these dying stars; the atoms composing everything we hold dear were once part of a star. Recognising that life’s source springs from them greatly deepens our sense of wonder for the interconnectedness of the living world.”

The installation reflects on these cosmic ties between black holes, supernovas, and our own existence, inviting a deeper sense of wonder at the ties between our bodies and the genesis of galaxies.

It sits within a constellation of seven immersive works that shape 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦 | 𝘔𝘢𝘶𝘳𝘪 𝘖𝘳𝘢, where audiences journey from the roots of Amazonian trees to unseen inner worlds, moving between bodily rhythms and vast cosmic patterns — tracing breath as the rhythm that cultivates and connects all life.

𝘌𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘳 is part of ‘Flesh & Bones’, an exhibition and meditation on how we imagine, know and inhabit the body. Moving beyond the Western lens, and drawing on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, the body emerges not as a machine, but as a site of circulation, resonance, and cosmic correspondence.
In this context, 𝘌𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘳 traces the flow of oxygen through the rivers and tributaries of the cardiovascular system where breath sparks life, and connects us to the living world through cycles of exchange.

Presented for ArtScience Museum’s 15th anniversary, and developed with the Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles, the exhibition brings together over 160 works, from rare books and anatomical atlases to contemporary installations, spanning centuries of attempts to understand the body and its mysteries.

🍃There is a point where 𝘖𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘢𝘬 leaves the gallery and opens into the landscape. A series of open-eyed meditations, written by , .sheldrake and , carry its themes outward, into the quiet company of trees.

🌳Bridging the scientific and the poetic, the meditations invite visitors to slow down, look differently, and sense the animism alive in the oaks around them. The landscape becomes the experience. Reflection takes root in both imagination and embodied attention.

𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘦 is part of 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 (𝘌𝘢𝘶𝘹 𝘝𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴), opening today at Panorama Expérience launching a new home for large-scale immersive art in Montréal’s Old Port.

Presented alongside artists Maxwell Hohn, Maryse Goudreau, and Mandy Barker, the exhibition explores water as a living, connective force. In this context, 𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘦 takes audiences beneath the surface and into the sensory world of cetaceans. Shaped by the cutting-edge frontiers of marine acoustic biology, the work is an invitation, a bridge between our imagination and their umwelt, their lived sensory perspective.

To perceive as they do is to merge the senses into one: a multisensory collage where vision, touch, taste scent and sound dissolve into a unique single awareness. It is to sense the world through vibrating molecules and resonant waves.

From the way whales communicate across vast distances to the vital role they play in maintaining marine ecosystems, their survival is linked to the health of our planet. This journey highlights not just the mysteries of marine life, but also the deep interconnections between life on land and in the oceans.

It’s a joy to see our artworks sparking curiosity and reframing our interconnectedness with the more-than-human world. The exhibition illuminates the hidden forces surrounding us, revealing the sublime through sensory journeys beyond our everyday perception.
Each immersive installation situates the audience in an encounter that traces the threads of our co-existence, expanding our sense of self beyond our bodies, reaching out into a sensuous and more-than-human experience of the world.

Creating this group of artworks included scanning trees in the Amazon, listening in on black holes and mapping the human body in microscopic detail – to explore the life forces that connect us, the natural world, and the universe. It’s a real privilege to bring this work to Aotearoa.

Our monographic exhibition ‘Works of Nature’ originally presented at ACMI is now presented to the Museum of New Zealand Tongarewa as Breathe (Mauri Ora).

Our largest monographic exhibition to date is now showing at the Museum of New Zealand Tongarewa as ‘Breathe | Mauri Ora’, following its first presentation at ACMI as ‘Works of Nature’. Presented at awe-inspiring scale, our artworks come together to trace a shared line of inquiry, exploring breath as the rhythm that cultivates and connects all life.

Audiences journey from the ancient roots of a majestic Amazonian tree into unseen inner worlds, moving between bodily rhythms and vast cosmic patterns, gently shifting how they feel and perceive these interwoven systems.

💫 Thank you, 2025. What a year.

We’re looking back at months of exhibitions, research, and ongoing conversations. 𝘖𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘢𝘬 unfolded at Kew Gardens and Yorkshire Sculpture Park, while 𝘠𝘖𝘜:𝘔𝘈𝘛𝘛𝘌𝘙 and 𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘦 lingered a little longer after striking a chord with so many of you.

We deepened our exploration of art-led wellbeing, following breath into new territory with 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘵, and were honoured to see 𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘦 make waves and receive an Honorary Mention at the S+T+ARTS Prize 2025, with more international presentations ahead.

It was also a lively year for our limited editions, from New York to London, with works finding homes in public and private collections.

𝘚𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘋𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴 kept roaming too, picking up the Digital Dozen Award and popping up in bite-sized forms at and in Chicago.

We planted new seeds of inquiry, from a fresh chapter of 𝘗𝘰𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘰𝘪𝘭 selected for the Venice Film Festival’s Production Bridge to research unfolding through the Oxford–Bloomberg Digital Fellowship.

As many of our works travelled far and wide, we closed the year with a special moment: our monographic exhibition, first shown at , reopening as Breathe (Mauri Ora) at the Museum of New Zealand Tongarewa.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to the collaborators, commissioners, curators, researchers, and audiences who helped this year shine. ✨🌿🌎
