We know all that every workshop, seminar and so on needs promotion or advertising but unfortunately that is not really our business. In the past the word to mouth-form works really well for our seminar and we think we don't gone to change that concept. This seminars runs nearly 20 years and we have Hanshi Marc Howes with us (since 2006!)...is that not enough ? We started 1998 with a simple idea: a
n outdoor weekend only for members of our dojos at a nice horse ranch with just Ju-Jitsu and Ashihara International Karate training. The first rule of our seminar was and still is:
simple, small (max. 30 persons a day) and so cheap as possible, because we want that nearly everybody
(p.e. We did it 3 years at these horse ranch, the first year (1998) with terrible and the last 2 years (1999-2000) with perfect weather. Combination Seminar, we asked a 3rd teacher (Sensei Thomas Lehmann) for teaching and since then we have always teachers from outside of our dojos. Combination Seminar was the first which was open for everybody who wants to participate. After 3 years of sand in the gi (still weeks after the seminar) we decided to make it a bit comfortable for the participants and teachers. The most participants where always members of our dojos and so it was just logic to change the location from outside to inside and to Bonn. With this we where able the make it cheaper for the most students and to offer the teachers a better accomodation in form of a hotel bed (before everybody was sleeping on a attic above a stable in sleeping bags). Since the 4. Combination Seminar (2001) we organize this seminar at the dojo of the TSV Bonn rrh. 1897/07 e.V. - Section Ju-Jitsu. While the years we found a strong team of teachers for our seminar and all of them have a shared past within the Ashihara International Karate Organisation (AIKO) / International Budo Kaikan (IBK):
Hanshi Shihan Marc Howes
Sensei Gerard Toussaint
Sensei Marcel van den Berg
and myself, Saiko Shihan Marcel Vanderschaeghe
During the 17. Combination Seminar Shihan Niklas Albrecht honored us with a spontaneous lesson and his swiss charme. In the past 17 years we got Ju-Jitsu, EOS-System, Ashihara International Karate, Ashihara Karate Freestyle, Ashihara Goshinryu Karate, Kyokshin Budokai, Kyokshin Budokai Goshin Do, Shotei Kumite, Jigoku Session, CSSD/SC, Pencak Silat Tapac Suci, Capoeira, Hanbo-Jitsu and Tatsu Ryu. The key is not to learn each year dramatic, furious new techniques...the key is to repeat techniques and to learn from each teacher their different way of execution! The students will learn from the teachers and the teachers will learn from the students...Budo is not a one-way road...and we try our best to live this idea at our seminar. Well, thats all! Just a simple and nice "meet & train"-event in the former capital city of Germany. No big show....no big gym....not 1000 of particpants...no 100-times world champions in what ever...no fancy "world famous" teachers! "Just" a weekend with amazing people with a great personality, great budokas, good (old and new) friends, fantastic training and a lot of fun! THATS our Combination Seminar and everybody who like these recipe is welcome!
