At in Lille (March 23–26), Seriesly Berlin presents a delegation of emerging series producers and creators from Germany’s capital region, bringing their standout projects to the international market.

As special guests, supported by Albi :

Samira Saraya, Neta Weiner & Michal Cooper-Keren.samira / /

Their project “Hands Up” is a musical drama rooted in lived experiences of migration and Berlin’s hip-hop scene. It follows Geva, an Israeli musician, and Manal, a Palestinian singer, who are brought together for a high-stakes collaboration. As their music gains traction, their growing fame begins to turn dangerous. Caught between political pressure, family expectations, and growing public scrutiny, they are forced to risk their relationships, their future, and even their lives for the freedom to be heard.

Palestinian artist and filmmaker Samira Saraya and Israeli rapper, musician and actor Neta Weiner collaborate with acclaimed writer and showrunner Michal Cooper-Keren to bring this vibrant, emotionally charged musical drama to the screen. Drawing from their artistic and political engagement, including their work with the hip-hop collective System Ali, the series blends klezmer and Arabic classical music traditions with Berlin electronic beats, creating a hybrid sound that is both politically charged and deeply personal.

Samira, Neta and Michal’s participation is made possible through Seriesly Berlin’s partnership with Albi, which began last September with the panel “Stories for Tomorrow: How Collaborative Palestinian and Israeli Writing Transforms Television.” The three creators are part of the current cohort of Albi’s Shared Society on the Small Screen program.

If you’re at Series Mania, we invite you to connect with them and discover more about this bold and timely project.

Thanks to Libby Lenkinski ( ) & Keren Michael ( ) for making this all possible!

Sebastian, producer and co-founder of PICTURES (.pictures ), focuses on innovative storytelling at the intersection of film and technology. Jessica Hölzl, a screenwriter and dramaturge, brings a strong voice for female-driven stories that explore underrepresented milieus and perspectives.

Today: Melina Voss

Melina is the co-creator (alongside Maja Costa) and producer of the drama series project “Connection Lost”, an Italian–German co-production currently in development in development with production partners Titanus Production ( ) and UFA Fiction ( ). Brilliant 20-year-old Lia Stein’s life shatters when she discovers she’s adopted, and her biological father might be Adriano Olivetti, the visionary behind Italy’s tech empire. Because before Apple or IBM, there was Olivetti — and now one woman must fight to save its soul.

Melina will travel to Lille to advance the project, strengthen existing relationships, and engage in new international conversations around co-production and distribution. Seriesly Berlin is back at Series Mania!

From March 23–26, we’re bringing a delegation of emerging series producers and creators from Germany’s capital region to in Lille. Over the next days, we’ll introduce the official members of the Seriesly Berlin delegation. Their projects stood out among a large number of applications and are now looking for international partners for development, co-production, and distribution.

Today we start with producer Simon Kiefer (Saxonia Media) and writer Lena Fakler.

Together they are developing a series adaptation of Kate Evans’ graphic novel “Red Rosa” about the life of Rosa Luxemburg. Her life offers the perfect blueprint for a gripping political thriller series — and one that is, unfortunately, highly topical. At a time when fascism is on the rise again, Luxemburg’s story stands as a powerful example of humanity and the strength that can grow from the conviction to do the right thing, while also revealing the risks involved in standing up for one’s political beliefs.

If you’re attending Series Mania, don’t miss the opportunity to meet them on site and learn more about this timely and compelling project.
