🏝️ Tuvalu, in the Pacific Islands, will be the first country to physically disappear from the map because of rising water.
In this context of environmental crisis, I was invited in May by .ca and for an art residency in Agueda, Portugal. And a few beach clean-ups!
🎉 We officially launched the first Contemporary Museum of Tuvalu.
I’m so grateful for all the collaborators and artists that have elevated my ecological awareness through their specific artistic mediums and conceptual approaches.
I was supposed to work on a circus performance, but with my injured shoulder I decided to play with chicken wire. Here’s my installation:
⌛️Rising Disappearance (2025)
For contemporary humankind, the quest for spirituality cannot save us from the toxicity we ingest or the waste we create. Attempting to elevate ourselves above as Venice once did, some disappearing islands remain chained by the rising salt water. What shall be their legacy, immaterial ?
Blindfolded we hide ourselves from our self destruction and perdition.
In his broader body of work, Laurence weaves together notions of impermanence and heritage, injecting an essence of precarity and balance into his piece.
