„Historical and ornamental hand poke – Tattooing with Roots
Żaneta is the artist behind Historical and ornamental hand poke, where every tattoo is a quiet tribute to the
past. Based in Olsztyn, Poland, she specializes in hand-poked—using no machines, only
traditional techniques that echo centuries-old practices.
Her work draws deeply from the visual languages of Baltic, Slavic, Norse, and Scandinavian
cultures. Each piece feels less like modern body art and more like a continuation of a story
told long ago—through runes, patterns, and motifs once carried by ancestors.
In addition to tattooing, Żaneta is a passionate researcher and one of the organizer of the
Birka Historical Tattoo Fest in Sweden, a one-of-a-kind gathering focused on the revival of
ancient tattooing methods and the cultures that shaped them.
This is tattooing done slowly, deliberately, and with respect—for the skin, for the story, and
for history itself.
