Image and Voice is an independent forum established by photojournalist Antonio Cossa in order to reconcile both photography and opinions, creating open debates and granting an opportunity to the public to express themselves and question the panelists. The forum aims to reflect on current issues of our society such as education, culture, politics and other different shifting challenges we face on o
ur daily life : the current migration crisis, acts of prejudice, travel experiences, etc. Image and Voice also has the goal to bring together people of various strata of our society, such as diplomats, intellectuals, artists, journalists, students and the general public in order to reflect together upon these issues. This week we have two special guests - Photojournalist Liba Taylor and Dr. Samira Sibai. Liba Taylor After fleeing from her native country in August 1968 one day after the Russian invasion to Czechoslovakia, Liba Taylor made a new life for herself in the UK, where she studied photography as a member of the prestigious Magnum Photos group. From her base in London she travelled extensively, documenting the work of major international humanitarian agencies including the UNHCR, UNICEF and Save the Children in some of the poorest and most desolate spots on earth. Dr. Samira Sibai, a doctor of mixed Czech and Syrian origins, lived in Homs, Syria for most of her life. She studied medicine at Damascus university and later moved to Egypt to complete her specialization in endocrinology and diabetology. Her family was forced to leave Syria in 2012, when the Syrian conflict escalated, and she herself couldn't return to her hometown anymore. We also have Amazing Michaela Stehlikova to warm us up with her beautiful melodies of violoncello at the opening of the event and during the Cocktail.
