🔍 Android security deep dive?

Sergio goes into the guts of hardware attestation.

🧩 when to use it (and when not)
⚙️ correct implementation patterns
🚨 real bypass techniques
🛡 practical defense strategies

Fun fact: reverse engineering apps is just a normal day here 😄

🚗 Building for Android… but never touched Android Auto?
You’re missing a whole platform.
Branislav Bilý (Livesport) goes hands-on:

🧩 what apps can (and can’t) do in-car
🎧 building a media app step by step
⚙️ real-world use cases, not demos
🧱 reusable blueprint for Android Auto

Because let’s be real: car UX plays by different rules.

💙 Česká spořitelna joins as Master Partner.

One of the largest financial institutions in the Czech Republic. Part of Erste Group.
4.5M clients. 2300 engineers, designers, and product specialists.

Their teams build mobile apps used by millions every day.
Secure. Scalable. With no room for shortcuts.

🪄 Over the years, they’ve invested heavily in engineering culture and modern architecture.
Today, they operate in a code-driven environment with real ownership and real impact.

And for us, it’s not just about the scale.
They bring hands-on experience from large production systems and help push the level of mobile engineering across the region.

🎤 Here is what they said:
"At mDevCamp, we want to share hands-on experience from building and scaling digital products used by millions. It’s a great chance to connect with the community and support the growth of mobile engineering in CEE."

See you in Prague.

⚙️ Logging crashes isn’t enough.

You fix one issue. Another one hides somewhere else. You know how it goes.
Julien Salvi, Engineering Lead at Aircall and Android GDE, has been there for 10+ years.

In “Beyond Crashes”, he shows how to move from reactive fixes to real observability.
🧩 Crashlytics, Performance, Datadog in practice
🔍 debugging with tools like Chucker
⚡ using AI to spot and solve issues faster

This is about understanding what’s happening inside your app. Before users tell you.

Also yes, he’s visited 47 countries. Probably debugged apps in half of them.

Back for round two 🤝
Codemagic is joining mDevCamp again after a great collab last year.

Mobile CI/CD built for Flutter, Android, iOS, and React Native. Codemagic's CodePush server handles 15M+ update bundle downloads daily and 1B+ API requests every month.

:purple_heart: We’re glad to have Codemagic back with the crew. They help mobile teams automate builds, tests, code signing, and publishing, so shipping gets a lot less painful and a lot more reliable.

You know that moment when release pipelines fight back? Yeah, that’s their lane.
See you at mDevCamp, come say hi 👋

⚽️ Livesport is coming back to mDevCamp.

Their products deliver sports data to millions of fans around the world:

📲27.3M Android users
🍏15.5M iOS users
🌍 42M+ fans worldwide

That kind of scale demands serious engineering. Massive concurrency. Sub-second updates. Systems built so fans see the goal almost the moment it happens.

💜 And onsite? Livesport always brings the same mindset as their product: speed, energy, and real fun.

Pssst: We just had our first planning session about what they’re preparing for this year… it will be fun in the truest sense.

Because sharing knowledge is the key to building great products and great experiences for users.

Thanks for the support, big fans over here!

Still hiding API keys in gradle.properties or C++? 🕵️‍♂️

Michal Jeníček says it plainly: if a key ships with your app, it is not a secret.

In his session “Your API Key is Not a Secret: The "Genuine App" Pattern”, he moves past obfuscation tricks and shows a more realistic way to protect your backend.

You’ll see how cryptographic attestation and the Google Play Integrity API can help prove a request comes from your genuine, unmodified app binary.

Expect a practical deep-dive into:
🔐 why API keys are public identifiers
🛡️ how to validate genuine app requests
⚙️ a Simple Server flow that makes stolen keys useless

If you work on Android apps talking to sensitive backend services, this one is worth catching.

Btw: Michal practices Aikido, which feels like pretty solid training for both mobile chaos and parenting two boys.

Breakpoints don’t always cut it. 🐞

Flaky bugs.
Impossible app states.

Arkadii Ivanov shows how time-travel debugging with MVIKotlin lets you move through state changes and inspect exactly what happened.

Most iOS developers don’t think about the Keychain.

Until something suddenly stops working.

Ben Freiband, software engineer at Duo Security working on the Duo Mobile app, spends a lot of time dealing with authentication and secure mobile systems.

In his talk “Unlocking the Keychain: Understanding it before you inevitably need it”, he explains what’s actually happening behind the scenes.

You’ll get a clear look at how the Keychain works, why common login issues appear, and how credentials behave when apps use extensions or multiple targets.

If you’re building authentication flows or storing credentials in your app, understanding the Keychain will make a big difference.

Fun fact: ✈️ Ben has flown a plane.
(Says it was terrifying.)

What makes an Android app feel truly great to use?

Often it’s not the feature itself.
It’s the tiny interaction details around it.

Android engineer Sinasamaki explores exactly that.

In his session “Elevating the Ordinary: Crafting Delightful Android UI”, he takes a familiar interaction — slide-to-dismiss — and transforms it step by step.

✨ Glow animations that follow the user’s finger
📳 Haptic feedback reinforcing the action
🎯 Visual cues showing when the dismiss will trigger

The goal isn’t decoration.

It’s clarity, responsiveness, and interactions that feel natural the moment users touch the screen.

You’ll walk away with practical techniques you can apply across your Android UI components.
