【一、前言】[I. introduction]
人类一直在仰望星空，星空是否曾凝视着人类星球呢？好奇心的驱使，我们总是向往外星球的一切。好奇害死猫，即便如此，人类依然无法停止向外探寻的步履。第九届南瓜奇幻征片伊始，我们便从艾德·伍德取意，试图通过科幻主题来探讨低成本创作类型电影的可能性。我们能否想象外太空入侵的不是常见的小灰人、蜥蜴人，而是另一种形态的怪异生物，比如“剑鱼人从天而降暴袭太平洋”“猪星人赐福人类，在地球实行诗歌洗礼”“昆仑山洞涌现一池美人鱼”… 当我们跳脱惯性思维，打开人类认知的边界，就像手电筒在黑夜闪现一线模糊的光亮，也许我们无法问鼎宇宙的终极奥义，但这种想象的空间赋予了人类生存些许美好价值。
我们期待在2026年第九届南瓜奇幻的展映现场看到不一样的科幻视点，它们不需要太严肃，也不必遵循科学法则和现有的天文知识理论。我们希望你打开第七封印，让人类灵魂触及到那些深埋于心的真正臆想，或恐惧。抛开书本，扛起摄影机，让我们一起来享受头颅内的兴奋高潮！
Humankind has always gazed at the stars. But has the starry sky ever looked back at us? Driven by curiosity, we are forever drawn to worlds beyond. Even when it spells danger, we cannot stop ourselves from reaching outward.
As the 9th Pumpkin Fantasy Film Festival opens its call for entries, we take inspiration from Ed Wood’s Plan 9 from Outer Space, using the lens of science fiction to explore the possibilities of low-budget genre filmmaking. Can we imagine extraterrestrial beings not as the familiar grey little guys or reptilians, but strange beings of another kind? Maybe, a swordfish-like creature falling from the sky, striking the Pacific. A pig-like star-dweller blessing humanity, baptizing Earth with poetry. A pool of mermaids rising from the caves of Kunlun Mountain…?
When we break away from habitual thinking and push the limits of human imagination, it’s like a beam from the flashlight piercing through the darkness. We may never unlock the ultimate secrets of the universe, but within the space of imagination lies a kind of beauty that gives meaning to our existence.
In 2026, we look forward to seeing sci-fi visions that offer something different. They do not need to be solemn. They do not need to follow the laws of science or established theories of astronomy.We hope you will open the seventh seal and allow the human soul to brush against the dreams, or fears, hidden deep within. Put down the books. Pick up the camera. Let us revel in the rush that lives inside the human mind.
