Why is streaming not yet a major thing in Cameroon, and how is Stanley Enow trying to lead Cameroonians into the streaming era?
First, let’s look at some of the major problems that make streaming difficult in Cameroon:
• Poor banking systems – Many Cameroonians still face difficulties purchasing online services like Spotify, Apple Music, Audiomack premium, and other streaming subscriptions because of limited access to international payment systems.
• The population is not yet fully adapted to the digital streaming era – Many people still prefer using third-party apps like VidMate or Tubidy to download music for free instead of using legal streaming platforms. This reduces streams and revenue for artists from the biggest stars to upcoming talents.
• Some artists still avoid legal streaming platforms – Instead of distributing their music globally on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Boomplay, and YouTube Music, some artists choose to sell songs exclusively to lesser-known platforms with limited reach.
• Lack of sensitization – A popular Cameroonian blogger known as Peupah Zouzoua once pointed out that many Cameroonian artists have failed to properly educate their fans about the importance of streaming in this modern era. However, the responsibility does not only fall on artists; bloggers, DJs, influencers, media personalities, and entertainment pages also have a role to play in educating the public.
Now, how is Stanley Enow helping lead Cameroonians toward the streaming era?
In recent years, Stanley Enow has consistently released his music first on all major legal streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Boomplay, and others before dropping the official music videos weeks later.
This strategy helps generate organic traffic on streaming platforms while encouraging fans to adopt online payment methods, prepaid cards, and legal streaming habits instead of relying on third-party download apps that generate little or no revenue for artists.
With this strategy, Stanley Enow achieved one of his biggest streaming successes with his song “Take Ova,” which currently has over 1 million streams on Spotify.
Tonight, Stanley Enow fans will host a streaming party live on TikTok through the KING KONG NATION and KingKong Gang pages at 1 AM. Tune in as we vibe and enjoy the latest single titled “Power.”
Streaming is the future, and Cameroon must break that barrier.
