Three days.
Three distinct atmospheres.
Three invitations to enter the MushRoom.

Thank you for stepping into this space of mushiness with us. For your openness, your listening, your dancing bodies, your thoughtful questions, your quiet presence.

From free movement and high harp vibrations
to plant entanglements and bilingual conversations,
from tea-scented encounters to inner journeys through sleep, sound, and stillness,
this edition unfolded through your willingness to be part of it.

We are deeply grateful to all the artists, scientists, and collaborators of in-between spaces who shaped these days with their sensibility, rigor, and imagination. And to everyone who helped hold the space behind the scenes.

MushRoom lives through relation.
Through the courage to enter porous spaces.
Through the trust of not always knowing what will emerge.

Thank you for being part of this mycelial weave.
Until the next unfolding — 20 June 2026.

On Sunday, we will slow down, rest together, and explore different states of consciousness.

The afternoon begins with a talk by Benjamin Stucki - data scientist (PhD, ETH Zurich) turned sleep and consciousness researcher at the University of Zurich - who will ask the question: „Does consciousness disappear during sleep?“

Afterwards, a Yoga Nidra (Non-Sleep Deep Rest) session with Gana & Gloria Amelia gently guides us inward. From there, we flow into a live ambient set by Martina Berther & Philipp Schlotter, inviting everyone to lie down and continue the journey through sound.

To close, harpist Marina Mello presents a specially prepared solo set.

16:30 Talk “An Inner Science of Consciousness” — Dr. Benjamin Stucki

17:00 Yoga Nidra (Non-Sleep Deep Rest) — Gana & Gloria Amelia

The first evening of our MushRoom weekender is dedicated to exploring free movement in Music and Dance.

No other than Mario Hänni and Domi Chansorn aka «Space Echo der Zeit» will be guiding us through this collective experience with two drums, followed by a vinyl-set by DJ Windows Explorer.

Feel free to bring your dancing shoes and comfortable clothes, and see you on the dancefloor!

Space Echo der Zeit: This time as a duo, „Space Echo der Zeit“ brings together drummers Mario Hänni and Domi Chansorn in a search for illumination within the eternal, repetitive currents of primal beats and shifting odd meters. A gripping, rave-like improvised adventure by two of the country’s most renowned drummers — where standing still is not an option.

Windows Explorer: Black discs spin in circles, talk back. No genres, no beatmatching — just sounds that meet, drift apart, and move on, guided by the present moment.

At MushRoom, we are driven by our curiosity about relationality—mirroring mushrooms as connectors of worlds par excellence. On Saturday, 31 January, we begin the evening by exploring plant entanglements and our place within them.

We will present selected scenes from „Flying Scents – Of Plants and People“ (world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival 2025, Swiss cinemas from spring 2026; German title „Unter Pflanzen“), revealing how plants, fungi, insects, and humans communicate through chemical signals, microbial networks, and nocturnal rhythms.

This will be followed by an open, bilingual conversation (English–German) with:
- Antshi von Moos – Director of Flying Scents
- Dr. Afroditi Kantsa – Postdoctoral researcher, Professorship for Biocommunication and Ecology, ETH Zurich
- Elisabeth Schilling – Choreographer, founder of Elisabeth Schilling & Company (Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg), presenting her latest work on plant communication, Sensorial Symphonies
- Désirée Christina Schmid – Naturopath and trained pharmacist, founder of Mixtur, and artist. For the MushRoom Winterfestival, she has created a large-scale floral installation and a bespoke olfactory composition

Step into a space of connection and playful discovery, where art, science, and the senses converge to awaken new ways of relating to the world around and within us.

From 19:00, enjoy the MushRoom Tea Salon, featuring delicate, 100% organic teas from The Shift—humus-based, regenerative permaculture cultivation in Egg near Zürich, handpicked and handcrafted with care.

Screening and discussion: 19:30–21:00

Zürcher Schneckenchor brings together four Swiss musicians devoted to the deep, droning sound of the pututu — ancient conch shell trumpets once used in the ritual architecture of the Andean high cultures. In places like Chavín de Huántar, these instruments shaped immersive soundscapes that guided pilgrims through stone corridors, altered states, and encounters with the sacred.

At the MushRoom Festival, the Zürcher Schneckenchor reactivates this archaic sonic technology in a contemporary context: breath, resonance and space intertwine, collapsing millennia into the present moment. What once opened pathways to the gods now becomes a collective listening experience.

…………..

ANGELFIGHTRRR aka Nicola Habegger aka Angel is a trumpeter, electroacoustic musician and composer based in Zurich. Their latest project leans on improvisational trumpet studies as well as the deconstruction and blend of brass and electronic textures: a performance that reaches from nearly acoustic improvisation to intense clustering of feedbacks, drones and overlaying patterns. ANGELFIGHTRRR aims to create a feverish experience, whose pulse echoes both an alarm and a release.
