Rooted in collaboration, community development, curation, and choreographic works, Artistic Director Allison Toffan operates in multiple streams for a variety of projects with many different artists. The upcoming inaugural Toronto International Tap Dance Festival in June marks the official launch, and moving forward the future of the festival, Big Band Tap Revue, Toronto Rhythm Initiative, and all new projects developed under Toffan's direction will also operate under the Toffan Rhythm Projects umbrella. We’re debuting a film tribute to Joey Hollingsworth—tap dancer, singer & conga player from London, ON—as he celebrates his 90th birthday!

Next, we honour Heather Cornell at 70, celebrating five decades of shaping tap through improvisation, composition & pedagogy, and its intersection of music, dance & theatre.

Closing the evening: Bril Barrett (Chicago)—acclaimed solo artist, outreach pioneer & founder of MADD Rhythms, celebrating 25 years of inspiring the next generation of tap dancers.

✨️ CONVERGENCE | Saturday, August 22 -- 8:00 PM

A dynamic split bill featuring two emerging tap ensembles:

Boys’ Club Tap Dance Collective — Laura Donaldson, Elise McGrenera & Veronica Simpson — present Ostinati, exploring the recurring patterns, doubts and cycles that shape our lives, with live music by Alexa Belgrave, Amanda Sum & Adrian Russouw.

Subject:Matter (Boston) presents With Far Hand, blending tap, original music, improvisation & contemporary jazz to explore tap as both movement and sonic composition.

Closing the weekend: a PWYC Closing Night Jam at DROM Taberna, hosted by Victoria Miller—an all-ages celebration of rhythm, connection & community. Tap dancers and musicians are welcome!
