For our Festival Finale, we are having a musical party on stage, and after the concert! Creating a 12-piece Festival Ensemble, we will perform beloved classics of the Baroque era.

The whole programme is filled with famous Double Concertos where not one, but two soloists will interact, respond and imitate each other in a playful musical dialogue, whilst colleagues are cheering them on from the orchestra.

This music is fun and cheerful, the perfect finale to our festival.

Please join us post-concert for a fun, informal party at Wellington Music Hall!

.comtessa presents Florilegium, a vibrant collection of medieval songs from the British Isles (1150–1300) that traces the lifecycle of a flower through the seasons. These timeless works reveal the enduring foundations of “classical” tradition — where folk melody, chant, and courtly song first intertwined. Blending Celtic, troubadour, and plainchant traditions.

Presented with authentic medieval performance practices and period instruments, this program brings a richly layered musical culture shaped by centuries of cultural exchange to life.

With every ticket sold, BIGLAKE will donate 50% to Prince Edward Point Observatory (PEPtBO), a local charity that helps protect birds and other wildlife and their habitats on the South Shore through research, advocacy, and education

Schumann was the established master: composer, pianist, critic, and champion of new music. Brahms was the brilliant, passionate newcomer who would go on to become one of the towering figures of the Romantic era. Their bond shaped both men and left an indelible mark on the music they wrote.

— one of the country’s most beloved and acclaimed chamber ensembles — celebrates this extraordinary friendship with an evening of short gems for each instrument, followed by Brahms’s magnificent Piano Quartet No. 2, a work of soaring lyricism, elegance, and optimism that Brahms himself premiered in 1862.

This is Romantic music at its most human and most beautiful.

Last summer, as the sun set over the historic Cunningham House, the Ensemble brought the space to life in the most intimate, unexpected way amongst the candlelight.

With their unique program ‘Starry Night’ that blended piano and percussion instruments, the music flowed through a dreamscape of beautiful and unexpected sounds. It reflected on the night sky, evoking a sense of wonder at the vastness of space, distilling celestial motion into human scale, and exploring how dreams process emotions, memories, and even our self-conception.

And we’re bringing that candlelight back to PEC at the Wellington Music hall!

This year, the Candlelight Concert returns with a new focus!

Pianists Ilya Poletaev and Ruxandra Oancea will bring the music of Ludwig van Beethoven, heard through both historical and modern perspectives.

Beethoven Then and Now explores how his voice transforms across time, instruments, and interpretation—offering a rare chance to experience familiar works in entirely new ways.

If you were there last year, you already know how special this night can be.
If you weren’t… this is the one to catch.

THROWBACK! During BIGLAKE’s Evolution Festival in 2024, Ilya Poletaev gave us something rare - a guided journey through three instruments, the virginal, the harpsichord, and modern piano, tracing the lineage of sound, touch, and expression across centuries.

This video is part of our BIGLAKE Learn Initiative, and specifically our historical series, where we revisit moments that deepen our understanding of music beyond the concert stage.

And this summer, that journey continues because We’re featuring two concerts that bring this historical series into focus:

Ilya Poleteav returns to BIGLAKE 2026 to perform Goldberg Variations—not on one instrument, but two: harpsichord and modern piano. It’s a rare opportunity to experience the same work through different sound worlds, shaped by the very evolution explored in this video.

He will also be joined by Ruxandra Oancea for BIGLAKE 2026’s candlelight exploration of Beethoven voice across time and instrument. From early keyboard traditions to the modern piano, this concert offers a rare chance to hear how Beethoven’s music transforms through evolving sound worlds, shaped by the very history behind it.

If you’ve ever been curious about how instruments shape interpretation, this is your chance to hear it unfold in real time.
