Our premiere event is called "CAPTIVATE: The Dance Movement", which will include master classes in Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Acro and more. All styles but Tap are going to be involved in this event due to our venue requirements. The premiere event will be run August 8th-11th, 2013 @ The National Ballet School of Canada. We are bringing in professionals from LA,

NYC, and across North America to teach our master classes. We believe that being exposed to many different choreographers styles contributes to dancers becoming more versatile, which is essential for a dancer who is aspiring to have a career in Dance. The convention/master class section will run from approx. 8:30am-4:30pm each day. Our classes will be offered to 3 age categories - Junior (7-10), Intermediate (11-14), Senior (15+). For groups of 10-20 dancers we offer 10% off, and 20+ dancers 20% off!

You may have noticed that our registration for the summer intensive has not opened yet...

After much consideration, I have decided to put Captivate on hold for this summer so I can rework the business model and work towards bringing you an even better event in 2017. It was not an easy decision to make, I love putting on Captivate each summer and I am going to miss all the wonderful students and their parents who have been loyal to us since the beginning. However, this is NOT the end but only the beginning. I've found my passion in running Captivate, growing up you must decide what you want to do for a living and if you are lucky you will love what you and never work a day in your life. I have poured countless hours into Captivate over the last 4 years and every single one was worth it. I know that this is what I want to do for a living, seeing the smiles on your children's faces when they come out of class or go home from the day feels too amazing to give that up. I must however find a way to make it work for everyone, including myself so that I can solely commit myself to this experience for the rest of my life.

Thank you so much for all of your support the past few years. Your feedback and words of encouragement have always been valued and appreciated. Keep us in mind for 2017, all outstanding scholarships from previous years and those won at last summers event will be valid towards our 2017 season. Updates will be released through our Facebook group, Instagram page and on our website.

ATTENTION: NOW HIRING AN INTERN, details below... Please share with anyone you know who may be interested!

I am looking for a young, energetic and enthusiastic individual who has a passion for the dance industry and a keen sense of business to help out with various aspects of planning and marketing Captivate this year. This would be an UNPAID internship role that you can put on your resume and I will be MORE than happy and willing to provide you with references for future positions! Eventually in a couple years if I am able to successfully scale the business it may even translate into a paying job. For now it will provide you with an amazing experience from the business side of the dance industry that will be invaluable as you move forward in school or into the working world. You may gain some basic accounting skills that would be a great asset for future endeavours and your personal uses as well (no prior experience or knowledge of accounting required, I will teach you).

Requirements:
- Must be able to come to Toronto at least once a week for the first while to work collaboratively with me on projects from my home office.
- great communication skills
- comfortable using Excel
- photoshop is extremely desirable
- video editing is a huge plus
- music editing also a huge plus
- quick to respond to emails
- eager to learn, can-do attitude, and high attention to detail!
- easy to get along with

The length of the internship is open, initially we will be working just on the summer intensive but for the 2016/2017 season you will be helping me plan a tour across Ontario and possibly start up a completely brand new segment of captivate. Very exciting opportunity that will give you a unique first hand experience at the business side of the dance business!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful rest of the summer vacation and have made a smooth transition back to the school routine!

For all the dancers who were awarded a scholarship for placing in the top 3 at our audition class:
You will be emailed your scholarship in early 2016 when ticket sales have started.
I wanted to save you the trouble of having to keep track of the scholarship code for half a year but do not worry you have not been forgotten and you will get your scholarship!

I am so inspired by all the amazing dancers who shared their talent and love of dance with everyone this weekend. I can't wait for the next event, the planning has already begun!!!
